Coaching: ST coaching needs to improve immediately. Clearly there is an issue, and teams are exploiting it, and nothing has been done to fix it. Changing the punter isn’t going to fix the fact that we don’t even bother to block on punts.

The defense was not ready to play this game.

Offensively I thought Ludwig did an EXCELLENT job calling plays. Rising missed a couple of wide open guys, but ludwig had several shining moments in this game, a few of them called back due to questionable penalties.

QB: Rising did a fine job. Not the greatest performance from a QB ever, but pretty darn good. He did a great job managing the offense, and had a couple really good throws. If Enis hangs onto that ball, we don’t need to punt, and the end result is a comfortable win. Got hit helmet to helmet once, if we had done that they would have called targeting, but they didn’t even bother to review it of course because they want to make things as easy as possible on Oregon next week.

RB: These guys did everything they could to win the game for us. Great game from this group. Running, catching, blocking. Great game from them. Bernard absolutley got targeted at the end of the run where he got hurt. There was a long break, and they refused to review the play. Terrible officiating again.

WR: Covey had one of the better games of his season, but none of it counted, LOL. One of his best plays was somehow pushing both Pledger AND the defender several yards. Where is the flex Covey? COME ON! I was glad to see Enis get involved, but he didn’t come through when we absolutely needed it.

TE: Great game from these guys as well. They were not even close to being the problem. I thought Kincaid got a first down when he stretched the ball out on one play, and they didn’t even bother looking at it. One of many ignorant plays be the officials.

OL: played like doggy doodoo at the beginning of the game (especially Olaseni), but they were able to get things figured out. Good enough game from them.

DL: Zero pressure all game from them until the very end essentially. Tafua is a solid player, but he needs to learn how to get to the QB in some way other than speed rushing around the edge if he is going to make it in the NFL. We desperately need some beef up front. A guy like Siaki Ika would have really benefited us. Devin Kaufusi’s inner zoob came out tonight.

LB: Lloyd played great, Sewell had a couple of awful plays. I don’t understand why football players start jumping and diving when they get close to a QB. Just keep running, keep the guy in front of you, and make the play! Leaving your feet as a defensive linemen that has a shot at hitting the QB is just inexcusable. I can see it if you are being blocked and have no other way of getting involved in the play, but don’t worry about passing lanes when you could easily sack the QB.

CB: 16 has potential. A few good plays, a few terrible ones. Didn’t notice Phillips out there again, and that is a good thing.

S: Bishop is going to be a major stud in a year or two. Dude has TONS of talent, and his football instincts are off the charts.

ST: Kicking was fine for once (except for the opening kickoff), but punting is getting worse. Can’t block them when they send guys to block the punt… Shank the punt when they don’t even bother to try to block it. Ridiculous.

I basically agree.  However, I am not as high on the RBs as you.  Much of that may have been the line.  Nonetheless, it’s obvious to me that Tavion is the man.

We did what we needed to without Tavion, but it IS obvious he’s the horse to ride.

Yeah, Tavion is the best of the three. Pledger ran harder than he has all season, and still struggle to get yards in short yardage situations. I think it was mostly the line, and the defense TBH. Our offensive line has really struggled to both pass block and run block effectively in the same game.
