I would reckon so due to scholarship restrictions. Imagine if you have one of your best teammates left and he was replaced by someone more talented immediately. What do you do? Not a fan of the transfer portal. What a disaster.

Lots of 4* WRs in the portal.

Not many in the west.  Maybe Fisher from WSU.  Next, how much does Whitt want a WR that may not accept a role other than starter?  There may be better opportunity with HS folks that will sign in February.  I expect they can’t visit so everything must be based on zoom calls, so mistakes will be made.
