ParticipantWe know we have Ricky Parks sitting in the wings. He is a 4-star RB who was redshirted this season. Everyone, including me, is excited about Glover. Bernard has paid his dues and will only be a Sophomore. Then we have Tavion who is strong, fast, and proven himself in PAC12 play. Oh, and will TJ be back next year. That’s a lot of talented guys. Tavion and TJ could go pro, but I think both could use another year in college. I believe Tavion will be playing on Sundays, but one more year at Utah could help his draft status IMO.
Some have suggested that Glover will be the starter next season. If he is, he will have to be really really good. Ricky Parks was a top recruit nationally and Tavion is a stud and has proved himself.
If we were an NFL team – I would trade one of our RBs for a top WR. I would not be surprised to see one or two guys go to the portal.
As for me – I would like to see our RB room be Tavion, Parks, Glover, and Bernard. I like TJ, but we need to move to the younger guys and have Tavion be the RB1.

ParticipantI found this excerpt from an SI article written in the summer of 2020 about our running backs. It shows you how quickly things can change. Parks is the only guy mentioned in the article who is a Ute today. They certainly underestimated Ty Jordan.
Utah’s running back room is a little less crowded with the departure of Devonta’e Henry-Cole — which leaves expected junior starter Devin Brumfield and sophomore backup Jordan Wilmore, who drew raves in fall camp, as the two primary ball carriers.
The Utes only signed one running back in the 2020 class, 3-star Ty Jordan, who is versatile and could move into the slot. But based on his size and running style, Parks could immediately come in and give Utah a power-runner, to begin with.

ParticipantGreat post. Our RB room is stacked currently, and has potential to be the strength of the team for years to come. I hate to see talented guys transfer, but I’d expect we lose a few just as you’ve mentioned. I agree fully with your projected RB room for next year. I wonder if there is the possibility of converting any of these guys to WR? I would think this would for sure be a possibility for Bernard. Possibly Pledger as well?

ParticipantThis is the deepest I’ve ever seen our RBs room….talk about a stable of backs!
I would like to see us bring in more talent/depth to the Oline. Seemed like we started off the year hearing about 10 guys the coaches felt comfortable/confident with to play at any time. And that number quickly dwindled down to 7. Then a couple of injuries and it seems like we’re paper thin on the Oline. Bam finally developed to be a big-time contributor but he’s gone at the end of this year. I know we’ll get Kump back but he’s been plagued all year with an injury. I’d love to see us pick up another couple of highly talented OTs. Can’t stop thinking about Kinglsey Suamataia just falling into TDS’s lap because he was homesick. I’d gladly trade a couple of talented RBs for Suamataia.

ParticipantHonestly, if an 18 or 19 year old is afraid to be away from mommy, the TDS can have him. He won’t tip the scale anyway. Next season the tds will revert back to their norm.

BlockedSorry, I think they only get better. This is a bright new era for that program.

ParticipantI get it. I just don’t see how they’ll be able to keep up. With OU and UT leaving the Big 12, they lose power status. Plus, with the next round of realignment, they’ll probably lose a few more teams. There’s no way they’ll be able to keep up. Although they may still get better just for being in a conference.
