The one good thing that could happen if this is true IMO – is that we may never play these guys again in football.  I’m good with that.  Note that UT and TAMU have not played in football since TAMU went to the SEC.

Yes, they will be invited. B12 is desperate to survive.

And good riddance if we don’t play them anymore. I’d rather fill out our OOC with more interesting matchups, a la Florida.

      No question they get in

…and then West Virginia goes to the ACC with Cincy…then Iowa state and Kansas to the big ten

I’m still not convinced they’ll get in.

ESPN is reporting that there must be 8 “yea” votes for admission, and that neither UT nor OU gets a vote.  So if that’s the case, candidates must be unanimously elected.  And since WVU would prefer eastern schools over traveling all the way to Provo, it’s more likely that WVU would promote Cincy, UCF, Houston, and one of the following schools:  Temple, Navy, Memphis, USF, Tulane, Tulsa.

And TCU hates the tdS.  So between WVU and TCU, there HAS to be at least one “nay” vote, thus precluding the tdS’ entry.

And since the Big 12 had already concluded about a year or two ago that none of these candidates added value back then, nothing really would have changed now either.  At this point, the only value any of these candidates add is “another warm body” to get the league back up to 10 or 12.  If the Big 12 adds two, it’ll be Cincy and UCF.  If they add 4, it’ll be Cincy, UCF, Houston, plus one — and really, at this point, does it really matter who that “plus one” is?  No matter who they chose, it won’t become the difference between a “P5” and a “G6”.  So why add a high maintenance prima donna like ybU-p?  They weren’t a good partner/team player while in the WAC, and neither were they in the MWC.  And TCU knows this.  And even if the Big 12 DID elect to add them, the tdS would immediately start looking to trade up to another league — just like they’d done every year since 1978.  Just because they weren’t successful in trading up, that doesn’t mean they didn’t spend more effort batting their eyes at other leagues, than cooperating with the league they were already in.

And it’s not like the tdS would be looking to see how they could impove the Big 12.  They only care about how the Big 12 will improve themselves.  Adding ybU-p would be like adding another Texas, without any of the clout.

The difference this time is the Big 12 is in “survival” mode and desperate. None of the P4 conferences were interested in any of the orphan’d 8. So if they are going to survive they know they have to bring in 4 teams that add the most value and that’s all that matters. As much as I/we all despise the TDS and their fans, there’s no question they bring more value than any of the G5 schools regardless of the baggage that comes along with them. They’ll get in BUT the conference they are joining is a glorified G5 conference and everyone knows it. The Big 12s media rights deal is going to be slashed and from what others are reporting it will be 1/2 of what it was with OU/TX as part of the league. Then you split that 12 ways and those teams won’t be even close to the P4.

What I find so annoying is hearing all of the zoobs acting like this new Conf with the additions of BYU, UCF, Houston, and Cincinnati is already a better league than the PAC 12. They have been the PAC 12s bitch forever losing 80% of the time when playing against the PAC 12 and they know it. But even with all of that losing they put the PAC 12 down and act like they are going to be the new big dog of the Big 12. There is no end to their delusional thinking and talking and I say good riddance! They can have fun traveling to all of those sh*% hole places. And it will either eventually fall apart like the Big East did or be relegated to irrelevance.

Apparently it’s a done deal. The B12 is scrambling to try and stay a P5 conference without any blue bloods. WVU will vote to let them in.

I’m not saying they’re not going to get an invite, and if it were just about football, I’d say that would be a no-brainer.  BUT, there’s more to adding BYU to a conference than just the football team.

They might, however… They sit behind Houston and Cincinnati who are better fits. Next now that the Big 12 have lost all their big name schools (3) to the SEC and only have the bottom teams left, they are doomed to become a mid major. They can look to become the top mid major. So, yes they can get in, but the future is to fight it out with the MWC and the Sunbelt.

It’s funny to see BYU fans get so excited about this. If the B12 expands right now, UT and OU will do everything they can to buy out of their contract ASAP. Adding the teams they’re adding will relegate the B12 to the new G6. It may be the best G6 conference, but it’s still a G6 conference. Bowlsby burned some bridges with ESPN so their next TV contract won’t be as lucrative as it could have been.

What will remain of the Big-12 after OU, Texas (SEC) and likely Iowa State and Kansas (BigTen) and maybe West Virginia (ACC) leave will be the conference of misfit toys, perfect for TDS.

It’s a good short-term solution for BYU-Provo Campus, but that conference will cease to exist in 2025 when the remnants get pulled into the Big 10 and PAC12. The Big XII is the new Big East. Provo Campus will be independent again within a few years.

Whats hillarious is a ton of zoobs, mainly the large contigency of 13 year olds, on Cougarboard say that with the inclusion of YBU, Houston, UCF and Cincy, the reconstructed B12 will be the 3rd best conference in CFB, only behind the B1G and the SEC. They also think YBU will compete for the B12 champainship every year. This from the team that hasn’t beat Utah in 10 years but thinks they will dominate Oklahoma State, TCU, Baylor and Iowa State.

According to them Utah hasn’t beat them in the last 10 years but tds has beat themselves. Of course they will win the Little 12 every year. Who else has three Heisman level qb’s?
