From a fan standpoint, no. But, there is something to be said about getting to 8 wins in a really good conference with a scout team offense.

I’m still a bit worried about the OL. I am hoping that being able to throw the ball will help out the running game. Opposing defenses had it too easy last year, stack the box because Barnes couldn’t throw.
Rising throwing to Kuithe and Singer means that game plan goes out the window.
Our Utes are gearing up for a great 2024.

Absolutely massive pickup. Proven elite talent at the position of highest need. Singer is a game-changer.

Sure, Utah can win at home. The Utah homefield advantage is real and means we have a legit shot against any team.
Losing Barton is absolutely brutal for the defense, though. Stopping their run is going to be tough without him.

A lot of people think Utah let him score. Makes perfect sense.

Stupid and insensitive post by Jazzy, but who cares about Twitter? People spend so much time on there they begin to believe that’s the entirety of the sports world. Nothing on that site matters one iota in the real world. Remember when BYU fans thought that we wouldn’t be invited to the Big12 because of our Twitter fans? Boom! Invited! Lol.

This is what happens when you invite BYU to a conference. It immediately goes down in quality.

I’m hoping he sees a lot of playing time vs Weber State.

As others have said, Florida remained committed to stacking the box. They never deviated from that game plan.
Also, Florida’s defense is pretty good. They have some seriously talented dudes on that side of the ball. Utah did well, all in all.
UteFanatic replied to the topic Spencer Fano Not Ready in the forum Football 6 months, 2 weeks ago
Completely expected for a true freshman o-lineman in his first game. The fact that he was able to compete his way into a starting spot at all speaks to his talent.

Regarding #3, if Nate could just develop into an average passer he would be absolutely deadly as a QB. His speed and athleticism is elite. I’m really hoping that comes to fruition, but the lack of passing attempts does seem to indicate that he can’t do it.

Yeah, I feel bad for their fans. All those programs have done for years is punch above their weight. They have very loyal and engaged fanbases. And they’re being relegated simply because of geography and market size. Conference realignment sucks.
I wish there was a way for the Big12 to bring them on, but I doubt the finances make sense. Best they…[Read more]

Here’s the thing. Whitt is extremely competitive and with that comes a bit of pettiness. It’s what makes him a great coach. All the great coaches have that kind of “edge” to them (Urban, Saban, Dabo, Gundy, Harbaugh, etc.). The best coaches aren’t “nice” in the traditional sense.
In my opinion, he treats a rivalry exactly like it should be…[Read more]

You’re right. He certainly wasn’t elite, which was my original point. Glad we agree.

Could be smoke and mirrors, but Whitt said he it would either be Cam or Rose starting.
Whittingham says it’s 50/50 if Cam will be ready for the Florida game. Also says Brandon Rose would be QB if they had to play today.

Emerging rumor is that it was a kidney injury. If so, that’s a month recovery…at least.

Not good. He was likely going to start vs Florida.
This doesn't look like it bodes well for Brandon Rose being able to play against Florida.
Hopefully he's ok. 🙏 pic.twitter.com/aS6CLuFIf5

Eh, Clifford was a decent QB, nothing special. I spent a lot of time on Penn State boards leading up to the Rose Bowl and he received a lot of criticism for being inconsistent.
Graham Mertz has experience. In 2021 he started in all 13 games and led Wisconsin to a 9-4 season. In 2022, he started in 12 games, but only went 6-6.
Fortunately, it…[Read more]

I’m not convinced UW and UO would have signed a GOR at that point in time, even for $30M per school. They were still waiting on B1G to expand further. If this same deal would have been presented a few months ago, when B1G expansion was looking bleak, they might’ve signed it. But I doubt they would have agreed to this in 2022.
