The portal has made bowl games a joke

Some teams have lost 20+ players to the portal. Most good teams have players not playing because of the NFL draft. And some teams no longer have their coach and/or assistants

I thought Bowl games were fun back in the day. But, now they are a waste of time. The only meaningful games are the CFP games.

There are even players skipping out on playing in CFP games who are in the portal.

Also, the CFP has made bowl games meaningless.

With the portal open we were better
off not going to a bowl this year. Coaches can focus on recruiting instead of a meaningless game.

For sure bowls are irrelevant today. The only reason they exist is to provide content to the networks. In today’s brave new world, the only thing that matters is if you made the CFP. If you didn’t, then you’re second rate. Can anyone imagine the NFL putting on exhibition games for teams that didn’t make the playoffs? Neither can I…bowls are just another college tradition, you know, like staying in one school, playing four years, etc…that’s destined for irrelevancy.
