  Boom! WR Tobias Merriweather transfers from Cal to Utah!
  
  Very nice pickup for Utah! I’m feeling much better about the WR room with the addition of Simmons and now Merriweather.
  
  Big guy. Height 6-5, 205 pounds according to the 247 page.
  
  Merriweather has a 247 transfer 87 ranking.
  
  His 2022 high school ranking was a very solid 4-star 247 ranking of .95 (Composite 0.9512). He originally committed to Notre Dame and then transferred to Cal.
  
  He had high school offers from Notre Dame, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, Tennessee, USC, and Washington among others.

  This is good news, but I’m not going to get my hopes up. There were like 5 WRs ahead of him at Cal in terms of production.
  
  One thing I do like is that he seems to be someone that stretches the field well. Most of his catches seem like long-ball type plays.

    He was hurt while at Cal that certainly hurt his production.

      I went and saw him play in high school. He didn’t do much that game. But I am pretty sure he was hurt then too. I hope that is not a trend.

  He could be a great big body option for short turn in routes for touchdowns and conversion plays for first downs. Dampier excels at quick on time passes, so Merriweather fits in nicely to Beck’s offense.
