  • Nothing concrete and that’s why I say far from it… I’m not sure Snowden has made a decision tho I think he met with Whitt tonight so maybe he has.

  • It’s not 100%. Far from it.

And the boosters probably aren’t even contacting him directly.

It’s not dissimilar to when football programs reach out to coaches to gauge their interest during the season.

When Florida went after Urban during the 2004 season, they didn’t directly contact him. They had people contact family and friends to gauge his interest. They did the same…[Read more]

I doubt the game is the reason these players are transferring. It just so happens to align with the spring portal.

I’d go to BYU if they offered me $2 million lmao

I like how BYU fans forget that they were poised to jump to the Big 12 in the late 90s without Utah before New Mexico backed out and Ann Richards stepped in and got Baylor secured. BYU is playing the game – congrats. Nothing wrong with that. But don’t act like Utah pulled one on BYU.

Yeah. This speaks as equally to the state of things with Utah football as it does the actual talent. You can be “wait and see” with the talent, which is a perfectly viable view but losing the number one designated WR (and another WR with Washington the same day) should throw up some concerns and red flags about Utah’s standing in the NIL era.

    In…[Read more]

  • Utah has to figure out how to grease up their donors like BYU is doing because it seems we have plenty of successful alumni but they don’t seem too interested in wanting to help fund NIL deals?

  • That’s just it. I’m not saying Utah will suck. I am saying that people probably should expect 6-6 or 7-5. Anything better will be gravy – but there’s also a chance things go south like last year and they do eventually suck.

My guess? Utah beats Cal Poly (1), Wyoming (2), Texas Tech (3), Colorado (4), Cincinnati (5) and either split the Kansas…[Read more]

  • I just don’t know if Utah has the horses to compete in this landscape. They thrived as a program because they were very good at finding undervalued talent and turning it into something strong. But with NIL, once those players blow up, the teams with the financial resources come calling and honestly, it’s hard to to begrudge a player for taking a…[Read more]

  • If Utah had the means to do what BYU is doing right now, I would support ’em. It’s a dog-eat-dog world out there and the Utes are quickly falling behind the game.

  • Not sure why it’s mind-boggling to you, though because it’s very likely Utah isn’t picked to be a top five Big 12 team. They might. I think we’ve all conceded that but that won’t be the media’s project. And I get the media doesn’t know what they’re talking about half the time but it does indicate the consensus and I’m sure the consensus will have…[Read more]

  • 2021 would have been a mirror image of 2024 if Utah didn’t finally play Rising.

That team only did what it did because Rising proved to be a game-changing quarterback at Utah. He did things no QB could consistently do since BJ and it positioned Utah for the Pac-12 title both years.

Without Rising, I’m not sure Whitt is even the coach anymore…[Read more]

  • Yes. It was ridiculously easy to churn out a winning season and Utah couldn’t do it. I didn’t say every game was easy but certainly a schedule where you get Arizona, TCU, BYU and ISU at home should theoretically result in at least three wins – not four losses.

  • None of it is hard and yet Utah is coming off two conference wins. Guess how many times Utah finished with just two conference wins in the Pac-12? And that was a much bigger jump (from MWC to Pac-12) than what we’ve experienced here.

Utah struggles historically on the road vs decent or better teams. @ UCLA, @WVU, @BYU, @Baylor, @Kansas could be…[Read more]

  • No. I don’t believe Utah sucks no matter what lol

But Utah is coming off a 5-7 season where they finished 13th in the conference.

I’m the fan that needs to see the actual results before I feel confident enough to pick them to do better than 6-6 or 7-5.

  • New here but I share a lot of your concerns. My biggest concern is that last year’s team had a ridiculously easy schedule – maybe the easiest in the Big 12 – and they couldn’t figure it out. I get the games were close. I get that people can use the excuse if they had a better offense, they would have won more…but they still lost to a couple bad…[Read more]
