Any chance Smith brings some players from Utah State? There are a couple of good ones, that added with Carlson, Martinez, Jones, and others could make for a good start for the new coach.

This next basketball coaching hire is going to show us what Harlan brings to Utah sports. I think he has had pretty much a free ride up till now.
I hope he can find a coach that is great at identifying talent and then actually recruiting them to Utah. The new coach also needs to be a great developer of players once they get into the program. …[Read more] -

Even though I get disappointed lately in the quality of product coach K is putting on the floor. We need better recruits!
Well, hope they get things together tonight against a pretty good team. Just playing a consistent game without long scoring lapses and some solid defense would be a welcome outing. Go Utes! -

Is Brian Johnson the OC for Florida in name only? It looks like Mullen calls the plays, which seems like it would limit Johnson in OC experience and competing for a head coaching job. I would like to see Johnson be given “full” OC duties.

Thanks, hardly ever pick against the Utes, but after the opening game with all the new players, just couldn’t give them the nod at Washington. It was another gut punch to watch them collapse after the great first half of play.

Watching the Indiana vs Michigan game.
Noticed a shot of an Indiana coach talking face to face with another coach. The coach pulled his mask down and talked directly into the face of the other coach (who I think had his mask on), and did this not once, but several times. I think he feels like he is not being heard thru the mask. You see…[Read more] -

I think the Utes should be better than an even favorite to win their opening game of the tourney. With Carlson playing well, and plummer, Jantunen, and Battin contributing good minutes, along with an energized Gach, the Utes are hitting the tourney on a high note. Allen should provide his consistent 20 point effort.
The only downer is Jones…[Read more] -

He has reportedly contributed to some good recent wins in a tough Conference.

BleedsRedUte started the topic Mark Harlan has got to take action with coach K in the forum Basketball (Men) 5 years, 2 months ago
I think coach K is a likeable guy with a good background. But the poor and inconsistent team performances over the years just doesn’t equate with a solid level of results like at least being in the top tier of the PAC12.
The AD is new and probably will do a lot of soul searching before making his first major firing at the U.. But if you look…[Read more] -

Yes, I agree, and if we lose Carlson to transfer it will be the straw that should finish coach K for good. Carlson is going to be one of the best Centers in the West in coming years and Utah should be able to win championships with good coaching.

BleedsRedUte replied to the topic Will we benefit from PAC12 officiating this week? in the forum Football 5 years, 5 months ago
I like to think most refs are honestly trying to do their jobs the best they can. But I remember in the old basketball days of being happy to see “Moose” Stubing was refereeing a Ute basketball game. I really believed that Stubing liked the “U” and would make a favorable call sometime during the game that would benefit our guys.
I am going to…[Read more]

BleedsRedUte started the topic First impressions of Tuttle and Shelley based on available video in the forum Football 7 years, 11 months ago
Tuttle looks to have a reasonably strong arm. He is another Ute QB recruit that slings it side arm! He is listed as 6′ 4″ but he delivers the ball about as high as Shelley, who is much shorter.
Shelley has an average arm that will probably be exposed at the D1 level. He is a great athlete, and a talented runner! He may end up with special…[Read more] -
