chinngiskhaan replied to the topic Guys, we are 6-1 and just had an amazing win AT USC in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
There were plenty of off-tackle runs tonight. I suspect we run those plays because those are the plays that work most often in practice. It certainly is frustrating, but I gotta think Ludwig isn’t stupid. If he’s calling those plays, he must have a good reason for doing it.
He certainly isn’t the perfect play caller, but he did a solid job…[Read more]

Can we please stop railing on the coaches? It’s embarrassing. Our offense is playing a backup QB, is missing 3 running backs, and our 2 most productive pass catchers (plus others). This doesn’t even beghin to describe the issues this team has had this year… and we are SIX AND ONE!!!
Ludwig tonight – was the play calling perfect? NOPE, but it…[Read more]

He has been hurting us in the redzone with penalties all season. It has been BRUTAL. It’s common enough that you can pretty much count on him getting a false start in the redzone.

No reason for all that extra fabric. These shorts are much more practical. I grew up in the baggy shorts era and after playing in these shorter style shorts, I can say they are far superior for performance.
Unless seeing man-thighs makes you weak in the knees or somehow offends you, there is no reason for wearing baggier shorts than this when…[Read more]

Exactly. This is nothing more than them hoping to catch Utah players (or the University) doing something against the rules. There is no other incentive for doing this. How local companies choose to advertise their company is nobody’s business but their own. This doesn’t protect anyone’s rights, it invades the rights of Utah residents.
Nothing…[Read more]

Simple? Sure, but you pretty much nailed the issue here. Are the players employees of the state, or are they private citizens doing private business deals? If they are employees of the state (I don’t see it that way, because the university isn’t part of the deals), then certain aspects of their contracts should be public. If they are just people…[Read more]

Here is the stated legislative purpose of Utah’s Government Records Access and Management Act:
“63G-2-102. Legislative intent.
(1) In enacting this act, the Legislature recognizes two constitutional rights:
(a) the public’s right of access to information concerning the conduct of the public’s business; and
(b) the right of privacy in…[Read more] -

this is all you need to know to see their motivations behind the suit.
“This will allow the public to better understand these deals and whether Utah’s universities are performing their public function in monitoring them for compliance with NCAA eligibility rules,” he said after the more-than-two-hour hearing that included the committee going…[Read more]

This should be appealed. I’m not sure whether it harms the UofU to have this stuff public, but it just doesn’t feel right that it should be public.
I’m sure this will end up in an actual court of law relatively soon.

I had the same thoughts. Why does the Deseret News feel the need to get these contracts anyway? The NIL contracts have hardly anything to do with the schools themselves, why is it any business of the Deseret news’ to see that information?

Not bare, but more so than it should have been. I’m not putting any blame on Ganther.

Why is it too early to say it’s been poor since Ty? The two guys we’ve had for long enough to make a determination as to their talent have not been good enough to supplant a backup QB and a safety on like two weeks of practice at RB.
I’m not claiming the sky is falling. I’m not claiming our coaches suck. I’m not even complaining. I just thought…[Read more]

IF you reply to my post with something that seems to be at least an attempt at contradicting what I said, I am going to refute your contradiction, or concede the point. Given that these posts are replies to my own post, I would think there is at least a rebuttable presumption that replies to my post fall in one of two categories: Agreeing with me,…[Read more]

I wasn’t complaining so much as making an observation. Our RB play hasn’t been bad. We have had guys to get the job done, but our HS rb recruiting has been worse than I would have expected from a team that focuses on the run so much, and is successful while doing so.

The more I think about this, the more I think you have to let them come back if there is a better than good chance they will be healthy, and they want to play college football one more year.
If they are going to play CFB one more year, it’s gotta be with the Utes. Who’s development are they stunting by coming back? We don’t have any good TEs in…[Read more]

Yes, the jury is still out on Ganther’s ability to recruit players that are actually good. I do wonder if they are good though. If they were good enough to play, they would be playing. The fact that they got beat out by Glover, and and a safety for playing time says to me that they aren’t very good.
They could absolutely get better, it could just…[Read more]
