Alright. When looking at a schedule, you look for a couple of things: 1 – do you play multiple weeks on the road? That second game on the road is killer and usually a loss. 2 – where are your byes? Who do you play before/after and who does your opponent play before/after? 3 – Tough teams lined up together. USC a couple years ago played Alabama,…[Read more]

  • Let’s take a step back and review our players we are losing:

Miles Battle: Solid CB. He is replaceable. He wasn’t bad, wasn’t great.
Bills: Multi-year starter. Will be tough to replace.
Vaki: He and Jackson are so overrated…now hear me out. Not overrated as in bad. They were great. But overrated in that it will be easy to replace their…[Read more]

  • 7-2 in conference wins the South. USC still has @Cal, @Colorado, @ASU, and Oregon. I’ll bet they finish 5-4 in conference.

  • Seemingly every weekend game the Utes play from here to the end of the season is an afternoon game. Afternoon CBB is stupid. People have things to do. Skiing, kid’s sports leagues, hell, even just a project around the house. Afternoon games are day killers. Basketball is entertainment that should happen in the evening. 6:30 at the earliest.

    Let’s…[Read more]

I’ve always said there are three things to look at when predicting a team’s record (in order of most important to least):

1 – SOS. Who do they play, when do they play them, and who does their opponent play before them?
2 – Returning OL. QB is important and can cover a lot of sins. OL makes everyone look good. A great QB can make you good. A…[Read more]

  • I think schedules are best looked at broken into chunks. Now, this is early, and I don’t know other team’s depth charts and have limited knowledge on players leaving early.

As we know, this year’s schedule was insanely hard. If we had Arizona’s schedule, we have 9+ wins. We had the toughest PAC-12 schedule this year.

It stays the same next ye…[Read more]

  • @ASU
    Arizona
    @Colorado
    UCLA
USC would have to lose two of these games, along with Utah winning out in order for us to have a chance at winning the South.  It’s difficult to imagine a scenario where that plays out.

  • We can lose to Washington and Oregon as long as we beat ASU, UCLA and Colorado.

We’d have the head to head over all of them. We’d need USC to lose one more, likely against Washington, but who knows. It would suck to have USC take the South after we beat them.

Sadly a win over Oregon may not make a difference in our South Champion aspirations.…[Read more]

  • Yeah but you’re falling into the mistake of judging a team from 2 months ago. Which was the start of their road trips which was as tough a stretch as anyone has had in the league. If you want to do that then you might as well judge Utah by their 1-3 start to the conference. Cal’s road start you ask?

They lost @ #5 UVA in OT by 1 point.

    In…[Read more]
