I understand from a good source that Utah was going to be his choice until the late push by Tennessee in the last 48 hours. They were on the phone with him for hours the night before he announced his decision. They told him he could play both ways, and because he would be in the SEC he would get tons of attention.
I don’t think it was because their NIL offer was bigger than ours. The head coach and offensive coordinator worked him hard the last few days. Utah coaches apparently tried to call him the night before his announcement, but he did not answer.
I don’t think Utah is done recruiting him. He has not signed anything yet. Can we flip him? Who knows, but this is one guy we should do everything possible to flip.
