I’m not going to go with a single play but rather with a single hire. The hiring of Urban Meyer changed everything for Utah Football…it opened the eyes to a huge population of Utah fans of what Utah Football could really be. Yes, Ron McBride turned the tide, however, most Utah fans were still stuck in the mindset of believing Utah was a…[Read more]

He’d be such a great replacement for Damuni this year. Young talent for the depth chart who could further develop into a starting replacement for when Reid moves on. But maybe he’s attractive enough to P2 suitors and is looking to cash in on NIL?? If that’s the case, Utah wouldn’t be in the running unfortunately.

Utah backed away from him due to character issues. Hopefully BYU is the right environment for him to put his past life behind him. And if things go well, maybe he becomes a transfer target to Utah in a year or 2.

Yea I’m not sure I feel strongly one way or the other. I definitely would like to see us pass more this year than ever before given we have a Top 10, 7th year experienced, star QB returning. But I also believe Michigan gave teams like Utah the blueprint for success.
Although Utah doesn’t have talent as highly ranked as Michigan’s team from last…[Read more]

Does Caliman have a reputation for trolling on here? Just trying to determine if we should be watching for news on Badger coming to Utah or not.

Understood. My point is that Utah isn’t doing something unique. The overwhelming majority of public institutions all do it in a similar way.
MDUte replied to the topic Another record setting year for Utah athletics revenues! in the forum Football 1 week ago
Every public institution operates in a similar way, charging “student fees” that gets routed to Athletics for such things as student section tickets to all athletic home events. And these fees are part of the annual budget every year that athletic departments know going into the year how much will be coming from this line item in the budget. Utah…[Read more]

So it sounds like he’s a solid roster addition? Not sure we’d consider him a huge get or a game changer??

Totally agree with you Proud. Chip Kelly’s comment about having all CFB teams go independent makes a lot of sense. This way all other college sports teams can remain regional. The only part about Chip Kelly’s idea I disagree with is the number of teams. Personally I prefer a top tier of CFB consisting of no more than 48 teams. Consolidating down…[Read more]

I voted “not excited” because I see this year as a failure. Craig Smith had the roster talent needed to make the NCAA Tournament this year but wasn’t able to get it done. The team lacked defense and rebounding all year which are both effort-based and controllable for a well-coached team.
I recognize that it’s good for the players to still have…[Read more]

Any of the following would cause a Zoob meltdown to occur that I’m not sure they’d ever recover from:
1) Utah winning a Natty in CFB
2) Utah player winning the Heisman
3) BYU’s sponsoring institution pulling the plug on athletics due to poor performance and waning fan support
4) Utah building a new stadium to match the new KGRZ and having it…[Read more]

Curious who people would like to have replace Craig Smith as the next Head Coach. As much as I’d love to see Alex Jensen take over, I don’t think he has any interest in coaching college basketball. I’m not sure if Johnnie Bryant is a possibility either.
But for me, I’d prefer to see Harlan hire away an assistant coach from one of the best…[Read more]
