  I think he did an amazing job of covering the top wide receiver in the conference. Yes he had a number of catches, but no chunk plays.

  That pbu where it looked like a bit on the double moved, stopped on a dime and recovers to break it up was one of my 2 favorite plays of the game,along with moss’s run

  Player of the week is only for flashy plays like sacks and INT’s. Johnson made them largely give up on throwing to Hodgins. Number 1 in our hearts.

    nooooo he didn’t. They still threw to Hodgins. I mean, he was pretty much the only guy they threw to all game long. Johnson gave up plenty of receptions to Hodgins. What WAS good was that around half of the targets (maybe a few more, maybe a few less) resulted in incomplete passes because of JJ’s defefending. The other good thing was that JJ was all over him when he did catch the ball, and thus never gave up a big play to him.

    Hodgins had nearly as many receiving yards as the rest of their team combined (he had 8 receptions for 77 yards). That is still a pretty darn good game. We’d be perfectly happy if our top guy got that many receptions and yards. JJ did not shut him down, and he should not have been expected to. Hodgins is a very good WR. JJ did an excellent job at not giving up any big plays.

      Well below his average. And he didn’t score. Also not typical for hodgins. It was a great game for Johnson against a very good WR. .

        If anything the OSU qb seemed to target Hodgins more often. They had such a poor game plan. They knew they couldn’t run the ball and Utah wasn’t giving up a big play.
