Can we please retire the bouncy house?

  With the new SEZ, I think it’s time we upgrade our stadium entrance. Some type of lead-in with the right popular hype song, smoke/pyro/fireworks…anything but the old bouncy house. Thoughts??

  I think I read it somewhere that it is indeed going away. I wouldn’t mind letting Swoop continue to ride Whitt’s Harley out before the game. That’s kind of cool, although I’m mildly surprised that he hasn’t biffed it during one of those rainy games…

    I didn’t know that was Whitt’s Harley either, but yea I too like that and think they should keep it going.
    
    For me, I’d like to see us shoot for something like Virginia Tech’s entrance coming out to Metallica’s Enter Sandman with their whole crowd jumping up and down. However, the fact that their whole crowd is already there and on their feet is what makes it so cool. Our crowd isn’t usually in their seats until sometime after kickoff. But it would be cool if we could get to this point.

  I’m totally down for an upgrade of the entrance and upgrade of the Japanese drums before the fourth quarter. We can seriously do better on both of those.
  
  I don’t like choreography or dancing of the team of any kind but I love smoke and hype. It doesn’t seem like Whitt likes his players to get absolutely psyched, he wants them calm, cool, and collected.
  
  I watch soccer and every time there’s a Seattle Sounders goal, freaking flamethrowers burn outside the goal. I’m not much interested in fireworks. So…that would be cool

  I post information about current Ute sports, teams that are competing as I type this, and I get no comments, maybe one thumbs up, but some dude posts something about a bouncy house and a multi-post conversation ensues, thumbs ups flying left and right.

    We all have different sports we are interested in and follow. There is less interest for skiing for example than for football and that’s okay. Just don’t take it personally

      I wasn’t taking it personally. Folks in this era always think that a person is “taking it personally” when they are asking for change. I wasn’t complaining because my posts weren’t getting likes or followers or whatever. I was bemoaning the fact that most of us ignore the efforts of a large portion of the Ute athlete corps. These non-football Utes deserve our support. Is this Utefootballhub.com?

  Dude, it’s a dead period during the off season. There’s no recruiting news to talk about and spring camp is still weeks away. The only thing current in Ute Football right now is the new SEZ project. As a fan, like many others on here, I just want the program to be the best it can be and rise to the level of other top P5 programs in the country. Whether you realize it or not, college football is part of the entertainment business. But don’t take my word for it…Whit stated it best, “We’re in the entertainment business and they (the players) are the show.” As part of that “show” I’d love to see an upgrade of the game day experience. Our sellout crowds at RES are great and make for a tremendous home field advantage. And I’d like to see that take a step forward by things like having our fans show up to their seats 30 min prior to kickoff. And an electric entrance for the team would help facilitate that step forward IMO…similar to the example I posted of what Virginia Tech does. But call that trolling or whining or whatever you like…the only whining I see is from you about how nobody responds to your posts.

  I applaud you and any other fans/supporters of all things Utes athletics. Admittedly, I really only care about Ute Football and that’s what I come to this fan board for. I’ve always been a supporter of MBB as well but can’t bring myself to follow them right now because I can’t stand Larry K and am counting the days until we are able to replace him. Regarding all other Olympic sports, they just aren’t an interest of mine. But I still attended and graduated from the U along with my whole family, including both my parents. The way I see it, regardless of what sport(s) we choose to follow, we are all fans of the same university. We should all appreciate and respect whatever level of fandom/support any of us bring to the U of U rather than ridicule each other for not being as big of a fan as we think everyone should be.
