  Watching the 2001 bowl game against USC while I work. That defense was just overwhelming the Trojans and Deckart was a monster in the first half at least.

  I’m old enough to experience memory loss, but I remember that game well. Without looking it up, didn’t the Utes sack Carson Palmer like 9 times?

      I had to look it up. Only 4 sacks, but USC only had 1 net yard rushing. Utes destroyed them. Score didn’t indicate as much.

        Palmer had six carries for -51 net yards rushing. I believe a sack counts as a carry. He apparently had one rush for a 3 yard gain. So his other five carries resulted in -54 yards. Ouch.
        
        That was a fun game as a Ute to watch. But as good as our defense and running game was, it was still a tight game. Nice win, though, against a USC team that was on the verge of greatness.

        I honestly think I mixed up the Liberty bowl in my mind. I think same results. Utah 17-0 Southern Miss. Score didn’t indicate how much their QB was running for his life. But the 10-6 Vegas Bowl was a masterpiece.
