KeymasterI’m “toying” with going to the Wyoming game. I’ve heard that place is awful, terrible. Google says it’s a 5.5 hour drive too. So there are some reasons not to go. Any thoughts?

KeymasterWait a minute. Just looked at my calendar. I’m going to a concert in Denver the night after the Wyoming game. This is shaping up to be a hell of a road trip.

ParticipantI’m driving out Saturday morning and only staying 1 night. Hotel rooms were outrageous… Pretty sure there will be some lot lizards hanging at the place I’m staying.

KeymasterBugger. I don’t want to pay that much for a hotel. Guess I could go straight to Denver after the game. It’s only a couple of hours.

ParticipantIt’s like an hour to ft collins, plenty of places to stay along I-25 headed south there

ParticipantI’m going to the game and making a weekend out of it. Heading out Friday and returning on Sunday. I’ve always wanted to watch a game there since it’s the highest altitude stadium in the US at over 7200 feet. Laramie hotel prices are outrageous and I’m only staying there because I used some of my hotel points very early in the game, well before I even bought my tickets. If you were to stay the night, your best bet would be going down to Cheyenne, which is close by and a much bigger town than Laramie. Hotel prices there were very reasonable when I checked earlier in the year.

ParticipantAnyone know the Visitor section at Memorial Stadium and/or the student section (to avoid – I think it’s the whole East side lower level)?

ParticipantI got this from an AI search:
“At War Memorial Stadium in Laramie, Wyoming, visitor seating is primarily located in Section E and the upper rows of Sections NDU through NJU. Section E is behind the visitor’s sideline and offers a view near midfield, according to RateYourSeats.com. Additionally, Sections NKU and NLU are also designated for visitor seating, according to RateYourSeats.com.”

ParticipantThanks AI. With sections A-J on the west (visiting team) side and AA-JJ in the 2nd level, not sure what NDU-NJU means (maybe D-J upper meaning DD-JJ?) and no idea what NKU and NLU are. Section E is center behind the visiting bench – seems unlikely they would give that up. In any event, I think west side is the way to go since it’s not the same side as students and pee bombs.

ParticipantI think the last time Utah played at Wyoming the power went out.
The only redeeming quality of Wyoming fans was their hatred for BYU.
This reminds me of the NIU game. Why are we playing there and if Utah comes out flat they could lose.
Nothing good can come from this game. Win and it no big deal. Lose and it’s a season wrecker.

ParticipantYou are forgetting the major upside of the cute Laramie girls – the ones that only dip Copenhagen in their lower lip and not in both the lower and upper lips.
I don’t disagree that there is very little value to this game, but I have always enjoyed games in Laramie. It is usually an enthusiastically hostile environment that has a unique vibe. Maybe it is just me being nostalgic, but I’d take the old WAC/Mountain West over the current conference (especially if that included the old ticket prices).

ParticipantJust wear a BYU sucks t- shirt and have a pint of whiskey in your back pocket and the Wyoming fans will embrace you.
I think the last time we played them was the last Urban Meyer year. Late night November game on national tv. ESPN had the whole crew and added lights. Overloaded the power grid and power was knocked out for an hour or two. Finished the game late. I knew Urban was gone for sure after that game. He made several derogatory comments about Wyoming and the MWC.

ParticipantI was curious about the last time Utah played Wyoming and did a web search. I ended up at https://utahutes.com/sports/football/opponent-history/university-of-wyoming/262, but it doesn’t look correct (2004 game is missing):
(Guess I can’t paste in screenshots and I am too lazy to get it hosted somewhere. Just go to the link and look at the spreadsheet, if you want)

ParticipantJust moved from Wyo to the ft collins area but I will probably not be attending the game. Fans there are not great and the drive to laramie is as boring as it gets.

KeymasterNow I’m toying with flying to Denver, then driving to Laramie, since I have to go back to Denver the day after the game.

ParticipantI’m going with my sons. I’m glad I had hotel points. The hotels cost 3x more than my previous stays. We are driving up Saturday and home Sunday.

ParticipantIt can’t be that bad. It’ll only be September. It’s the November games you’ll want nothing to do with.
