Jayden Daniels was going to pick UCLA. Said something about a source in the family. I noticed he has posted on Utehub a lot in the past. Has he posted anything about Daniels over here?
No – and I won’t after receiving 21 down votes on that forum:-(
Could you at least expound? Multiple sources plugged into the situation with his family have him at Utah.
So how much do you get paid for an up vote or does it cost you for a down vote. Seriously we are way to into our online profiles.
I wonder about whether our staff has a plan B?
Maybe he would rather play right away in a quiet half-empty stadium instead of waiting a year or so to play in a packed house.
May of course be that he wants to play closer to home too.
Keep recruiting guys who don’t want to go to bluebloods and find whatever shakes out of those that don’t get assigned to defense?
Britain Covey of course!
I heard that Daniels found out that Zach Wilson is transferring to the U and it swayed his decision. Right after Tuttle announced his transfer, Wilson contacted the staff.
Lol. You’re being sarcastic, right?
Maybe Dorian Thompson-Robinson will transfer to Utah. In all seriousness, this freshman QB transfer stuff throws a whole new wrench into recruiting that wasn’t really happening 4 or 5 years ago. I have no problem in trying to get the highest recruits possible and having them compete for the job. If they get beat out like Tuttle and want to transfer, so be it. Its the new normal.
Yeah but with no other real QB recruits in this class to speak of, 2020 doesn’t look good.
ouch…
Honestly I was expecting it after his visit. It was a great weekend, great game and great environment. He would have pulled the trigger then.
The concern is that the Tuttle transfer leaves the team very thin at that position. I guess they’ll be looking at the JC rosters.
The Tuttle xfer is going to hurt in the long run. I know it’s a complete to earn time culture bla bla bla but at some point, unless you’re Alabama, you have to pander to these kids to win. You’re not going to get to the next level with “try hard”, “high motor”, Mormons who want to stay close to their bubble.
Are you suggesting our coaches trust recruiting websites over what they see in practice? If he were better than the other options, he would have played.
No I’m not. Im saying you find a way to keep a 5 stay kid around so you have a better chance at others later. Others that might be good enough to play right away. Those kids lose confidence in the coaching staff when a peer that they respect basically says “these coaches suck, I’m out of here”
I understand your point that other recruits might lose confidence when they see a high-profile transfer, but I would argue that the existing players would lose confidence if they saw a high-profile recruit get an undeserved nod when someone else has earned that spot. I would also argue that many recruits would respect that.
I do not blame Tuttle or the coaches in this situation. Tuttle wants to play now, so he should find a place where he can play immediately. Good luck to him, I am sure he will do great. I do not fault a kid for wanting to play (versus wait and *hope* for an opportunity). He has invested a lot of his youth for this moment, he should seize it as best he can.
But I also do not fault the coaches for only giving him what they felt he had earned. Had the coaches given Tuttle special treatment, I think they would have lost the team, which is generally a hard-nosed meritocracy. Recruiting stars do not matter once you are on the team. All in or in the way. Prove it on the field (in practice and then games) and you will play. Players definitely see it when someone gets unearned treatment, and they will often revolt when it happens.
Good grief. Huntley and Shelley are not “try hard”, “hign motor”, Mormons who want to stay close to their bubble. But somehow they ended upon the roster. Tuttle wasn’t either, and the only apparent reason he transfered is because he was QB3.
Jayden Daniels isn’t a must get recruit. Wilson has two years to come back and switch to Safety for Utah. Everyone needs to relax.
And we won’t get to the playoffs with them. Exactly my point.
We might, starting at 15 with a lot of potential chaos in front is not impossible.
Tuttle is a Mormon. Whether he’s a try hard or not, is up for debate. How do you think Utah landed him?
I don’t think Tuttle is a Mormon. Very religious, but not a Mormon.
I am open to be proven wrong because I have no first-hand knowledge, but I am pretty certain Tuttle is not mormon. I recall seeing things on his IG that showed Christian convictions, but he did not come across as mormon.
At this point, all we can do is speculate. Don’t get me wrong, I love speculating. But no reason to sweat it until we know. Then we can bitch and whine all we want. The reality is, if Utah doesn’t have a good QB option when Huntley leaves, there will likely be a Tuttle out there somewhere that is ready to transfer. The new transfer rules make QB movement very fluid. Frankly, even if Daniels signs with UCLA, if he doesn’t immediately unseat the previous starter, who’s to say he doesn’t transfer to Utah?
Goid point! New rules will result shake things up.
Washington’s QB next fall will be 5 star recruit Eason, who transferred from Georgia.
Kids want to start at P5 schools.
I see your point, but if he can’t cut it at fucla why would he cut it here?
Well, if that is the case (he can’t cut it at Utah) then we don’t need to worry about him signing elsewhere. And we also should not be sweating Tuttle’s transfer.
My main point is to not sweat it. We are a 1.5 seasons away from needing a new QB (maybe longer if Shelley steps into the role nicely). A lot can change over that time. If Daniels doesn’t join the fold, there will be other options when the time comes. Maybe they won’t be as good as Daniels, maybe they will be better, maybe it will even be Daniels. Nobody knows.
Everybody was saying that Huntley needed to put on more weight to handle the rigors of a p5 schedule. Daniels is 25lbs lighter and two inches taller. Why is everybody so enamored with this kid?

247 begs to differ (note that the trend has been pretty much all Utah)
Exactly, most see him as a Ute, hard to believe this past weekend changed anything. If for whatever reason he does go somewhere else, it’s hard to imagine what else Utah could have done.
By all accounts (other that what was mentioned above), this kid is gonna be a Ute.
Not getting my hopes up. His comments were lukewarm at best. Tuttle was cool and all stayed committed for so long. I wasn’t too upset when Tuttle left either. 18 year olds decisions just don’t bother me much.
If he were a Ute, he would have committed. It was a good recruiting weekend and he hasn’t committed already. His comments following the game suggest he wasn’t too keen on the “vibes” around the school. He may still commit. We’ll see.
Or he wants to keep his options open and hasn’t yet decided.
Whaaaaat??? His comments about the “vibe” were that Utah is a college football town opposed to California that has multiple pro football, baseball and basketball teams. He said he loved how passionate the fan base was. They knew who he was and had signs up at the game.
His comment was that it was different…
Update, Utah has the plurality of predictions.
I thought Ute Hub was “the one.” 🙁
The buzz around this kid is as desperate as the Halloween singles night for 40 somethings. We are fine.
We were never going to the playoff this year, maybe even at 0 losses. It’s a two year run and a strong finish positions us for next year perfectly. All we need is to be in the conversation this year.
Recruiting will sort itself out with success.

The “vibe” wasn’t a negative, he seemed to love his visit.
