I can’t wait. GD BYU could f**k up our whole season, and they intend to. Beware Utes!

Hahahahaha…oh man we really are funny. Even after what 8 in a row we still feel like we can trip on our dicks with TDS?? Whitt should be fired if he loses that game. Like literally don’t even let him leave the lockers expecting a job.

Hyperbole….mostly. But seriously do we believe Utah will lose to TDS in the opener? I am not even worried about that game. Now that isn’t to say I wasn’t worried at half in that debacle of 3 quarters of football we witnessed. It still took mostly a quarter of football to beat them with our backups. If Utah is healthy it shouldn’t be close.

No, it shouldn’t be close.  I totally agree with that statement.  However, it almost always is.  This is BYU’s Super Bowl.  They will do anything possible to win.  They desperately need to get this monkey off their back.

On paper – we should be at least a two TD favorite IMO.  However, we never seem to put these guys away.  I am also worried about this being the first game.  KW typically doesn’t have the team at their best for game 1.  Michigan was an exception.  We will be starting a new offensive line with NO experience playing together.  BYU does have a very good QB.

So, should we be worried?  Yes, I think we should.  (No that it matters what I think.)  I was not at all worried about our last game with BYU and it was not a pretty game until the last 15 minutes.  We were not healthy, but neither was BYU.  They were playing with a 4th string running back and had many defensive players out.

I feel like it’s always the offense that takes a few games to wake up, and the defense almost always comes ready to play.  I wonder if that had anything to do with the coordinators.  I bet Ludwig addresses this from the get go.

Wilson got raped when his RB went down and Utah played the ones more. I loved Wilson at the time but @Utah is 100% correct on our misplaced love on the kid.

I’m not too worried about it.  The Michigan gamw wasn’t a fluke at all.  Utah has long played down to the level of their competition, and I think that this is more a facet of not practicing at the same level of intensity as we do when we know we’re about to face blue-blood program — like Michigan.  Or Alabama.  Or USC.

Anything can happen on any given week, that’s why we play the games. If I were a betting man, I’d obviously bet on Utah. But Utah is notorious for coming out slow in the first game (hell, sometimes the first few games) of a season. The game is in Provo, and TDS-P wants this more than any other game on their schedule.

On paper it shouldn’t be close. Whitt usually has the guys prepared for this game. I’m hoping that’s the case again this year.

I hope after 9 in a row we don’t play the game anymore. Point proven I think.

This will not be a typical first game.  Ludwig will want to quickly establish the offense, not the usual saving everything for league games.  The players remember the game from last year and don’t want to repeat any of it.  This will not be a game between winning the southern division and the championship game.  The last 25 years have included pleanty of wins in Provo.  The utes could stumble next year, it just will not be when coming out of the gate.
