Still having nightmares about Charbonnet and Thompson-Robinson

Lots of people seem worried. I’m really not.

First, UCLA is returning 2 starting defensive players. Yikes.

Second as good as Nico May be, he didn’t wildly impress at Tennessee. He was an an amazing system that worked well for him. I don’t think he beats us. Especially in a new offense where he only is getting to work with the coaches for a few…[Read more]

  • Nate’s best game by far was the 4th quarter at Baylor when he took over for Barnes. He handles the progressions well, the problem was he isn’t very accurate throwing 15+ yards.

  • I don’t like him at receiver. I would love to see him at RB. Shotgun formation with him and dampier in the back. Both can run both can throw. You have to respect so many options there as a defense.

  • Being creative would be using Johnson as a decoy. I do not want to be predictable. I agree with you on that. However, using Johnson does not make us predictable IMO. Look at Vele in 2023. Look at what Weddle did for us. The ball does NOT and should not go to Johnson just because he is on the field.

Well, in the Pac UCLA didn’t seem to be a team to worry about other than on the road in 2022. What I do remember is the Rose Bowl can be quite hot early in the season so I expect it to be. Like Utah, UCLA has a lot of new pieces to get working together. Who is more in sync will have an advantage. Very likely it will be hot so the rotations of 2s…[Read more]

I was surprised to see Utah favored by nearly 7 points.

My concern is the offense taking time to jell. Opening up on the road vs any P4 team is a challenge when there is so much uncertainty on the offensive side of the ball. I would much rather flip the Cal Poly game with this one just so that Dampier has some real game experience at Utah under…[Read more]

  • Regardless of the changes, Whitt will not change his basic offensive philosophy of establishing the run. There may be times when he will be happy going up tempo, but there will more than likely be times when he is going to want to chew up clock. Capable backs behind a solid O-line should be able to establish the run; add in a dual threat QB who…[Read more]

Some BYU fans poisoned the well, but also some Ute fans talked a lot of crap, and then Utah badly underdelivered in its first season, a perfect storm, if you will.

At this point, I am just hoping Utah finds a way to win more games in 2025.

The 6-7 pt road spread does seem odd to me. fUCLA finished with a meh record last year, but their only badish loss was probably UW. They had a 5-game skid but come on, IU-LSU-Oregon-Penn State-Minn. Seriously? Can’t blame them for dropping the Minn game (who are a pretty good team) on the back end of that stretch. Both teams will be installing new…[Read more]

  • I like the wildcat with someone other than QB1 to lower exposure to QB1. I also like the wildcat with a creditable threat to pass. A productive wildcat option is a headache for defensive preparation. Nate in a sweep also becomes an RPO. Against a zone Nate can create matchup problems simply attacking LBers particularly as space increases. Nate…[Read more]

Seeing as how we usually come out of the gate in super slow mode, a loss to UCLA wouldn’t exactly shock me.
My hope is that the offense comes out on fire and the defense is the best we’ve ever had. My guess is we will see something a little less spectacular than that.
I think we win this one but it does look like a 55/45 type of game.

  • Looks like we are close to having one sponsor lined up. Need more.

  • I’ll send an email to the email on your account! THANKS

For all the reasons everybody already stated, I think a loss is totally possible. Much like us, they weren’t very good last year, but they weren’t terrible either (a lot of closeish games). Other than the TN QB transfer, what else did they gain/lose in the offseason?

I think it’s close to a 50/50 game, but I do think it’s more likely we win.…[Read more]

  • I own Bewilder Brewing and Rabbit’s Foot Brewing. I just took over the former Bout Time/Penalty Box next to the Maverik center and that’s now Rabbit’s Foot Brewing. It’s a great place to watch games and get great food.

I’m happy to donate gift cards from both locations for weekly giveaways.

By virtue of the results of the last two years, Utah has lost the right and ability to overlook any team on their schedule, to include Cal-Poly. For me, it’s going to take a couple of successful seasons before I start getting the feeling that we can beat any team as we walk off the bus.

  • Absolutely they would fire Sitake first, and I never expect them to stop spending lots of money. I’m just hoping they have some bad seasons where the “investors” get a poor return. Look what happened to Texas A&M. They tried to go out and buy every player under the sun and failed to achieve anything meaningful. Now their player investment has…[Read more]

Agreed. This is the kind of game you just can’t lose if you want people to take you seriously, both as a team (Utah) and a conference (Big12). We only have so many chances to play/beat teams from the ‘Power 2’ (ugh) conferences.
