Here’s why:

After the 12-team CFP is set, the rest of the bowls make their selections. The Alamo Bowl has first choice among the old Pac-12 teams. (The Holiday Bowl has second choice.) The other team in the Alamo will be from the Big 12. Thus Colorado vs. TSPP.

I believe this arrangement (old Pac12 vs Big12) goes through 2025.

The PAC 12 bowls are still in contract with the PAC 12. They came to an agreement for the 2024 and 2025 that the contracts would stay in force and the “legacy” PAC 12 teams that left the conference would fill those slots. ESPN has Colorado v. TDS projected in the Alamo Bowl. Seems strange. How often is a bowl a conference matchup? You would think ESPN would try to get Colorado in a higher-tier matchup because they are one of the few non-playoff teams that will draw a national audience.

Pardon me, slight. 5’7″ 205 as a frosh can be worked with. Enough with the 170lb running backs. I will clarify, these recruits are not thick guys. I am not excited because Utah has recruited this same play for the last 4 recruiting cycles and they have not amounted to anything but some highlight touchdowns against FCS teams.
