For the most part, these don’t seem to be S&C-type injuries. E.g., we aren’t seeing torn/pulled hamstrings. There is some argument for how you handle quads contributing to knee stability, but a little extra knee stability only gets you so far when somebody flies into the side of your knee or rolls-up your leg.

Its hard to say what the cause is because of the well known lack of transparency. BUT it seems like a lot of these injuries happen in practice.
