There is, but how much money do you actually need? Maybe Saban is itching to coach again, but it will be the same issues he faced at Bama in terms of dealing with NIL etc. If I had to guess, he’ll remain doing what he is now while working in an advisory role for Bama. He’ll get his statue and enjoy the remaining years he has left.

Those are good points. I would go further and add that, unless things go in a positive manner, that advisory role might not be there.
What I mean by that is this: if Whitt holds on to the job while providing diminishing returns, and forces Utah’s hand, it’s hard to see any plausible scenario where he’s kept on as an advisor.

Regarding Saban, there’s a big difference between 65 and 72. Also. I’m hearing Saban to West Virginia rumors for 2025. Might not be as THE Head Coach but involved in the program in some capacity. Saban was born and raised in West Virginia and grew up as a Mountaineers fan, so you never know.

Simply not true in any regard. Players come bc of the coach who recruited them. Whit doesn’t personally recruit anyone one on one. He is the closer. If anything, players who are considering the U should find more comfort in the consistency having a coach in waiting provides

What happened in Crowtons 2nd year with his own guys? 3rd year? And Bronco had good team, but did he meet or excel what LaVell had done? No! No one has since LaVell left. No ONE!!
BTW, Scally was named Coach in waiting 3 years ago. It was taken away and then reinstated this year. Not news.

We played the equivalent of 3 games. 2 of which were decided on tuesday that we were playing. So please, tell me more.

Sorry, it’s based on BS from fans looking to place blame. BJ said it wasn’t true, Chow said it wasn’t true, Erickson said it wasn’t true, Cam said it wasn’t true.
The only guy who alluded that it was, was Smith. And maybe he did with smith. But I would have too. He was careless.

W NIL, # 3 isn’t his or anybody else’s fault. We had good QB’s come in. The Correct question is why didn’t they develop

I mean, almost impossible, but the five highest-ranked conference champions includes the champions of the ACC, Big Ten, Big12, and SEC and THEN the highest-ranked champion of the G5. So a 9-3 champion would be in, but likely be the 12 seed as the G5 would likely be higher ranked and get the 4 seed (1st round bye).

Utah#1 replied to the topic New OC says we're going to the wishbone and triple option in the forum Football 7 months, 4 weeks ago
There are five games left. The new OC has five games to prove if he’s worth it, and even then, that might not be enough time to fairly judge his entire body of work. If maybe, just maybe he happens to surprisingly turn the Utah offense around complete and have them playing up to their potential, then maybe it gives Utah a lot to think about bowl…[Read more]

His contract runs through ’27. During Big12 Media Days this summer after we scheduled Miami for the ’27 season opener, Whitt was asked about it. And he said I don’t think I’ll be I’m this chair when that season rolls around.

Loving this copium and will be huffing it myself.
What makes the TCU loss suck even harder is that we get both BYU and ISU at home. We could guarantee them both 1 conference loss, and would need just 1 more along the way (UCF is favored against BYU right now for some reason…). I think the CCG is out of reach this season but they can still turn…[Read more]

It’ll be interesting to see, and I think it will depend on how the rest of the season shakes out. Not that a specific team outcome guarantees something from Whitt (e.g. a nosedive season could mean either he is determined to come back and go out on a higher note, or realizes the program needs a new voice), but there is a lot currently hanging in…[Read more]

silverliningsurfer replied to the topic Something about Scalley I thought you'd like to hear in the forum Football 7 months, 4 weeks ago
This is great to hear and probably best case scenario. The program has been building for quite a while now and I think we all hope that that trajectory continues, even if it’s not a linear ascension.
That said, I think the biggest concern, even with Whitt, is how his pitch to recruits will land in this new NIL environment. In the past, they…[Read more]

I think a big part of why they announced the “coach in waiting” thing was to provide for continuity once Whit DOES leave. They can’t say they didn’t know. They’ve already mulled over what it will be like with the change in head coach. So I think less people would hit the portal once Whit leaves than most anyone would think.

The biggest arguments for Whitt starting are the contract, and he doesn’t want to go out on what has been a completely disappointing season. The argument for retirement is that he will still get paid in an advisory role, he already has plenty of money, and he wants to spend more time with his family without the stresses(especially in the NIL…[Read more]

One of things I love about Morgan is he know the importance of an explosive offense. Yes he’s a defensive coordinator mind but he was a captain and all American with Urban Meyer. So he understands the need for both sides of the ball to be humming. And MS has said he wants a “Urban-like offense.”

Until I see different body language and commentary from Whitt, I’m of the opinion that he’s going to be at Utah for a while. There are people out there, and I was one of them, that are well compensated but aren’t in love with their line of work. So, when those people make their mint and have their future assured, they jump ship.
Whitt doesn’t…[Read more]

We should start whistling and hissing like other countries instead of booing. I think the oo sound just carries and is differentiated from the oh sound (for general crowd noise) or ah in yeaaaaaahhhh for cheers. It’s just sounds voicing an emotion. So, really, you are saying you don’t feel there should be any negative emotions shared, only good…[Read more]
