we need to choose one thread instead of going back and forth.

Losing Fano is going to hurt against both. Him and Ellis were the best shot to slow either of these offenses down. Hopefully O’Toole plays as advertised but I’m not going to count on it after missing 5 weeks and part of camp.

USC, Colorado, Arizona State and Texas State all completely rebuilt their teams using the portal the last two years.

Clayton Isbell, Gabe Reid, Mohamoud Diabate, Landon Morris, Logan Kendall, Briton Allen, Landen King, Mycah Pittman, Emery Simmons, Cole Becker, Miles Battle, Logan Fano, and Levani Damuni all came out of the portal the last two years. Jackson, Karene Reid and Rising are starters who transferred before that.

Seems like some pretty decent off the shelf shopping to me.

I was a Logan Fano fan before the injury, now a big fan. Pulling for him to get all the way back healthy and play at a high level again (his tweeted hope btw).

Canzano article on the moment it happened and aftermath. Logan Fano

I still think we can make it back to the pac title game. Many things have to go our way… So thoughts.

    1. Don’t expect Kuithe Back – Whatever reason or rumor you want to believe pick it and roll with that. He’s done.
    2. CAL is the game. If Cam is not back. Don’t expect him back. It blows my mind that Whit thought he was 50/50 for FL. Whit is not an idiot, he’s the toughest no nonsense coach left in CFB There is no way that CAM is playing him. But, if that is the case as some on here have suggested Whit needs to cut that s**t out if he is not playing v CAL. No More, move on. If Cam wants to hang around the locker room ? I guess if it helps the team. But Cal is the perfect Scenario for him to come back based on what we have heard fro the last two months. (I explained why already in another post).
3.Assuming CAM is back for CAL. He will be rusty, he may play a little scared. That’s fine I expect that. Get all of the jitters out against CAL. No, Cal is not a bad team, but, our D is so elite it won’t matter. Get Cam right in that game, get hit, run around a little, make some throws and dust off the cobwebs. Get him mentally and physically ready for what’s to come.
    4. We will be as healthy as we’ve been v CAL. Unless something happens that we are not aware of. We should get the following guys back.

    1. Cam (Fingers crossed), 2. JJ, 3. Pittman , 4. Mcclain 5. Maea (was back v OSU maybe takes the center spot back from Kump), 6. O’toole , 7. Villinger 8. maybe cole becker (fingers crossed), was warming up @ OSU.

not to mention pepe, Tufunga, broughton get rest. Guys who were banged up earlier will be healthier although all have played the last two games….

Thats a full, healthy, rested D minus (Fano) whose done for the year.

    6. The injury swing and bad luck have to swing back in our favor.. Things tend to even out. Hopefully, our guys can now stay healthy.

With a healthy Whit/Scalley D and a decent Cam. I think we have a very good chance at losing only one more game this year. Best case IMO is 10-2. I think SC is the loss.

With Cam and our D and special teams. I think get UO at home and yes even UW on the road.

I know many of you don’t believe that.

UW would be Cam’s 5th game back. He’s comfortable, our D are destroying people and after losing to SC and coming off of a huge win v UO our boys will have the confidence and mental fortitude to beat UW. I’ve seen how tough Cam can be…. I realize there are a lot of “What If’s”, but if you’ve been watching how the team has rallied around Cam the last two years. If healthy, this would not be a shock. Remember Defense wins championships. And with our D we just need a competent offense. A 80 PERCENT CAM can give us that.

If no CAM best case is 8-4…I still think UO is a 50/50 game. But can we score enough to keep up with NJ even at home ? It would be tough.

CAL is the game. Based on everything Whit has been saying for the last 4 months it all leads up to CAL.. The fact that everyone including Vegas expected CAM to play v UCLA leads me to believe CAL is the game. I never thought OSU was. Why throw him into that environment with those cheap shot POS (See Barnes).

If Bad Moon Rising plays v CAL. I think 10-2 is very realistic. The entire team will rally behind CAM….

2 loses will get us back to vegas against SC especially after we beat UW and UO.

Flame Away But I think if Cam comes back this happens..

    GO UTES.

I think Utah will be an NIT team. Outside shot at an NCAA berth if Deivon Smith gets his waiver. Bajema is going to be a significant upgrade over Stefanovic, and I’m excited to see how Exacte and Keita have improved (word on the street is they’ve both stepped it up).

    Oh, and FREE LUCA TARLAC!

I think coaches are less risky with NJ when he is the only serviceable QB. I think we will see conservative play calling if there is no backup QB that has had reps. The bye week allows us to work on the team without a concern for preparing for an opponent. Hopefully, we have two weeks of practice for what will be game time QB1 and QB2. The same could be said for RB, two ready to go will be awesome. Next, some focus on bringing the TEs into the passing game is a good option. Last week’s TD indicates this could be close. If the starting center is back options there would be good. Hopefully Logan Fano will not be gone long, it is a must that O’Toole and Fillinger are available while he is gone. Even though it is not our strength, we must be ready to pass over a rolled up defense and accept some broken play runs or sacks to create space for short passes and the run game.

Does anyone have a legit list of all of our injured players? It makes me feel better about the loss to see how many good players we are missing. Here are the players I can think of:

    Rising
    Barnes
    Kuithe
    Pittman
    JJ
    Bernard
Yassmin (looked in pain and kept stretching his shoulder)
    Becker
    Munir
    Vincent
    Maea
    Fillinger
    O’toole
    Fano
    Pepa

    Who am I missing?

It can be surprising how little things can be the difference between wheels coming off and being competitive. Utah’s opening drive stalled on a 4th down, OSU’s drive converted the easy 4th down. Broughton’s missed tackle on 4th and 10 could have turned the start completely around but instead gave OSU important momentum. I also think the injuries could have us in a strange mental place. We continue to have much more than our share and the Fano brothers situation just hurt us. Logan has been playing so well.

I agree with practice for two weeks focused on NJ with maybe 10% Rising and Rose. Maybe watching a train leave motivates Rising but more importantly practice if focused on who will play. It will be interesting when Rising returns, it will be a big plus, but we don’t know when it will be. I expect Rose can develop but missing most of fall camp and the first weeks is tough to overcome. Jackson’s return could solidify the RB

It was nice to see Yas make a catch down field. If their could be a lot of focus on that for two weeks it would be very beneficial.

Kennedy came in when Fano went down and actually played pretty well. I kept looking for 81 but didn’t ever see him. I also don’t remember Pepa being in the game.

Whole D will be back v Cal – fANO… Cal is the game. If Rising is nit back v CAL then I don’t think we see Rising. Everything lines up for him to be back. Literally everything if he’s as close as Whitt as been saying and wants to play as Whitt as been saying. Cal is the game.

D will be almost fully healthy and I think we get Pittman, Mcclain back and JJ. Then we roll. We freaking roll and run the table. I know it’s alot to expect but I think we can do it.

    Go UTES.
