Travis Hunter was the 2024 Heisman Trophy recipient. He played in the Big 12. He was a two way player. So, do you have to play in the SEC or The Big10 to be recognized, no. I sure like the players who bet on themselves.

Being in the Big 12 hurts. The Utes would have landed him in the PAC

He commented on the last thread about Moa a few days ago.

Just posted this on another thread but even Salesi is calling out what a lot of us have been saying on here. Who knows really how close he even was.

Lots of optimism even 24 hours before the announcement.

SEC football is a big draw but they felt like they had done enough to hang on. Utah’s NIL was where it needed to be the entire time so I don’t think that was the deciding factor and I don’t think he was being dishonest with anyone, just ended up doing what he felt was best for him.

I think having his brother leave the state also worked against us and kinda opened the door for him to go too.

First off, I know many of you are down about missing on Salesi. However, not even three months ago, the thought of landing one of either the Pula twins, Salesi, or Obot would be a HUGE win for the program. Utah ended up landing everyone but Salesi.

Having said that, ON3 gave Oregon an 88% chance of landing Kelvin Obot, three different recruiting “experts” placed Crystal balls for Kelvin to be a Duck the night before he ultimately committed. He ended up being a Ute, despite what the “experts” thought.

The point being, try not to follow the input of all these self-proclaimed experts or recruiting insiders, all these bozos popped up seemingly overnight, they only actually know so much. To prevent the heartbreak of Utah not landing someone, try to distance yourself from recruiting drama the best you can, until the “committed” graphic is actually made.

Hell, maybe even wait until signing day.

I think he went silent after the offensive staff was let go.

I was following his recruitment very closely and was almost positive we’d land him. Once again I fell for the rope-a-dope. Do you think it came down to late Tennessee money? Was he Tennessee bound all along and we didn’t know? Do you think signing Pula twins had anything to do with it? As always I appreciate your insights. Go Utes!
