Though I’m optimistic for this season these last 2 games have sucked. Both times we’ve been beaten physically and the other team goes for the ball more. Also rebounding, loose balls, and passing has just been lazy recently. I may get downvoted, but I want the best and smith got to figure out what works for this team to get there

We gave up a lot of offensive boards in the first half (it seemed that way anyway). missed free throws and stupid passes killed us in the second half.

If Madsen and Stefanovic stick around we will be competitive for the next couple years at least.

Being married to an Aggie family I’ve watched Smith forever. Unfortunately his teams have a penchant for turnovers, even those elite Sam Merrill teams…

I hope he fixes that but it’s kind of a Smith Hallmark. But I’ll be darned if he doesn’t have us competitive against some real good teams. TCU was long and athletic and talented and we held up so well. Just a piece or two from breaking out! I’m excited for this year but I’m also excited for next years step forward.

Additional musings:

I reckon there was 8k and some change, maybe 9. Great turnout. I think attendance rebounds during conference play. It always did when we were decent over the last decade. Terrible attendance unless it was a big game. Then people always showed up for conference ball.

I think every turnover is worth 1.5 points against. So about 30 points worth… ouch.

I feel bad for the casuals who have only seen the Runnin Utes these last two games. For whatever reason, this is a very different team away from the Hunty, and I don’t mean that in a good way.

I like the term ‘casuals’. Was/Is used also as a term for football firm members, mostly in Europe, who would avoid recognition at matches by not wearing team colors.

Had we made our free throws, we would have won. TCU is a good team with a good coach. They will do well in the Big XII. Another learning experience in order for our team to finish PAC-12 play well.

Being down 9 with a minute left they kept on fighting. Which was nice to see.

Yet the loss really sucks due to really poor turnovers. A lot lazy passing.
