ModeratorWelcome to the club, Minnesota. I’ve been on a break for 20 years.

KeymasterI must be more of a rock head then. I’ve only been on break for 2-3 years.

ParticipantNever say never, but we’d have to have a catastrophic performance to lose to CU.

ParticipantAnd therein lies my concern. I’m still a little shocked that we lost to OSU. It seems to me like the book is out on us, apply a bunch of pressure and we just crumble.

ParticipantColorado having an epic disaster of a year but will come in hungry.
We’ve shown some life against the weaker teams in the league and hopefully can win this one.

ParticipantI just assume they’ll lose every game, then I’m pleasantly surprised when they actually win.

ParticipantReally surprised that Colorado collapsed this season. Anyone know why? They’ve been a tournament team the last couple of seasons, right?

ParticipantThis is the second time this season that I’ve watched the girls and boys play back to back, and I have to say that objectively speaking, if you like basketball like I do, the girls are just a lot more fun to watch. They make a lot more buckets, and space the floor nicely. Frankly I’m a bit amazed at how far the girls game has come. Because I haven’t regularly watched the lady utes or really any women’s basketball, until Katlin came on the scene, I was oblivious. But I can honestly see a time coming when not just specifically, but generally I’d rather watch women’s basketball. I almost think the size, speed, and athleticism of the guys have outgrown the size of the playing surface and basket height.

ParticipantI will admit I haven’t watched much women’s BB. I get your points about watching teamwork and “old school” fundamentals that the men once practiced. The men’s teams are so athletic and talented they have evolved into a different type of game that us county rec type players can’t relate to. I get so frustrated with the turnovers and lack of passing skills. Then I look at the length and athleticism of the defense and understand why. The womens game is much more relatable to how the game was supposed to look.

Participantfor the past couple of years, the women’s team has been much better 3-point shooters than the men’s.

ParticipantFFS we do not have a girls team, they a grown women. Save the misogyny for CB.
-
Ute Dub
ParticipantMisogyny is hatred to women or girls. I think your faux rage is misplaced.

ParticipantTrivializing women by calling them girls, lessening their athletic accomplishments seems a little demeaning and hateful. There is no rage, I just hope for better.

Note that Minnesota Ute also said “boys” instead of “men” when referring to the men’s team. Does that seem demeaning and hateful towards the men’s team?
