Starting this year, the NBA now has “two way contracts” which gives the team two players that they can bounce between the DL and NBA. The players will get paid $75,000-$250,000 depending on how much time they spend in the NBA.
For a kid like Kuzma, it makes no sense to stay.
He can work on his game fulltime, get paid $75,000 and try to make his dreams come true. Sucks for college basketball, but a no brainer for Kuzma.
I think he showed at the combine that he was more ready than most of us thought. Plus with his age getting up there another year wasnt going to help his stock. Hes better off developing his game full time with a pro staff
Honestly I’d be all for the NBA doing 5-10 contracts per team like this. It would make even more headway for their D-League and give them a minor league to pull from. The NBA needs to go even more full boar into this Development league and make it like minor league baseball. It makes sense for the teams, players and fans perspective.
