The only reason that I can think of as to why he would stay is that he really likes the area and is extremely well compensated, even by P5 standards. I mean, all of the mock drafts I’ve seen recently have him creeping into the 1st RD. And get this, 2023 will be Penix’s sixth season as a starting college QB. There’s got to be something to this that we’re not seeing. It just doesn’t make any sense for a guy like him, that’s had an injury-plagued college career, to stay in college after having a monster season, especially with the assurance that he’d be a likely 1st RD pick.
