With Urban taking the Jacksonville job, is Scalley at all a realistic candidate for a spot on his staff? Or do we see any changes at all with our staff? If so who are the most likely candidates to move and who should their replacement be, excluding Gary Anderson?
I don’t know who would be good, but I’d sure like to improve our offensive line coaching.
Seems to me that a first-time NFL coach would need a higher profile hire than a DC that has never coached at that level either.
Don’t get me wrong, I think Morgan is a great DC and I think he’d be insane to turn down a shot in the NFL. But I’d be a little surprised if Meyer chooses him over someone who has established NFL experience.
I also have significant doubts as to whether Urban can be successful in the NFL. His success in college was taking over talented teams and pushing them over the top. I don’t follow a ton of NFL, but that seems like the complete opposite of what he’s doing in Jacksonville (although Trevor Lawrence would be a good starting piece). Also, so much of success in college is recruiting, and that’s not really a big part of the NFL. Will be very interesting to see if he becomes the next Pete Carroll or the next Chip Kelly.
Agree on Morgan, Urban would more likely steal Whitt than him.
Urban has a little bit of Bobby Knight & Rick Majerus in him. Personally, I don’t think that translates into coaching pros, but then again who am I to doubt him?
TJ Woods former Utah State oline coach. What an awesome individual and great coach.
Aside from when he left here to go to Florida, he has never taken anyone off of this staff, so I don’t get the concern. Coaches hire other coaches they know or have worked with. He’s been gone here for 16 years. I just don’t see that happening.
Urban has tried multiple times to get Morgan to coach with him, both at Florida and Ohio St. Morgan turned him down both times from what I understand. Urban has very high regard for Morgan. I can understand him leaving to be the DC but it sounds like that is not happening. Making a move to be a position coach may not have been enough.
