If only we had had a coach like that to teach us how to have a high red zone TD conversion rate. Oh wait we did, his name was Pope Irvin or something?

For the record, against UCLA, WSU, UW, UC, and WVU we were 63%. If you take out WVU, we finished the regular season at 70%.

So, we were getting better before today.

      My count:

      UCLA: 3/4

      WSU: 3/4

      UW: 2/4

      Colorado: 4/5

      WVU: 2/5

Today did suck. How much better would we feel if we could catch a ball put right in the receiver’s hands…

Agreed. Should have had several more grabs today, on both sides of the ball.

Yeah, Boobie Hobbs dropped two INT’s. Brian Allen was so good at that.

The one where he was backpedaling would have been a great catch regardless of who made it.

I’m old, but everything was soaked.  They dropped the ball even more than we did.

Also, if Handley (I think) catches that ball that hit him in the chest in the end zone, we would have been 3/5 (60%) today and 14/22 or 64% the last 5 games of the season, which is very damn close to teh 70% you need to be at to be elite. 70% puts you in the top 25 in the country in TD % in the redzone.

We are much better offense right now than where we sat a year ago, when we had 4 NFL OL, 1 NFL RB, an upper classman QB and an NFL WR.

We bring back our starting QB, RB, two of three WR’s (but we do get Covey and Boyd next fall), and 4 OL. Oh, and our first string RB will be healthy.

        Sooooo…….

“We are much better offense right now than where we sat a year ago”

This just simply is not true. Our offense managed to score only 30 points against a bad defense, 13 of which were gifted to us by WVU turning the ball over 3 times deep in their own territory.

Our offense looked just like it did for the rest of this season – disjointed, no rhythm, terrible 3rd down conversion rate, and WAY too much running from the QB.

How many points did we score vs a really bad Indiana team? And how many of those players are in the NFL now?

If Handley catches that ball, everyone thinks differently right now.

We return pretty much everyone and add Covey, Hamilton and Boyd. And Shyne and Green.

We are in a much better position now offensively.

We scored 26 and that Indiana team had a much better defense than yesterday’s West Virginia team.

2016 IU defense was ranked 45th in total defense and 57th in scoring defense.

2017 WVU defense is ranked 107th in total defense and 91st in scoring defense.

I’m not saying A-Rod and Harding were good OCs, but Taylor has done nothing to prove he is an upgrade.
