Here is how I see the season playing out for the three local schools . . .

      And finally, Utah

      vs Weber State – W

      @ Northern Illinois – W

      vs Washington – W

      @ Washington State – W

      @ Stanford – L

      vs Arizona – W

      vs USC – W

      @ UCLA – W

      @ Arizona State – W

      vs Oregon – L

      @ Colorado – W

      vs BYU – W

Overall Record: 10-2 – I’ve been slowly coming around on our potential for this year. I think that Washington game is what sets us up for a big year. We were so close to beating them last year, I just have to believe we pull off the upset at home this year. Stanford and Oregon are both winnable games, but I just can’t see us going undefeated. Likewise, the USC game is certainly lose-able. The rest of our conference opponents should be somewhere between mediocre and bad so I feel comfortable that we win those. Assuming we stay relatively healthy, I think we go 9-3 at worst.

Man do I love that optimism!!!

I am VERY nervous about the Washington game.  They have reloaded, their QB returns and Sports Illustrated has them at #4 in the country.  That will be a season-defining game in my opinion for both teams.

I don’t think Peterson liked Utah early in the year like that. It is a hard schedule for Utah still but early upsets at Home have been done before.

BGU- wasn’t our upset over #5Stanford something like week 4? I just remember the opening kickoff/play and Stanford scoring. I thought to myself that it would be a long afternoon. We took them to the wire. So awesome. One of my top five memories in RES/ Rice stadium.

            Slaying Giants

IMO that game is why you never fire Whitt and it elevated Wilson to top five QB in Utah football history.

More season defining for us than for them, in my opinion.

Win or lose that game, Washington will just chug along to the North title.

If we win, the implication for us is that we are legit contenders for the South and Pac-12. If we lose, we are behind in the race from the get go and doubts can creep in that we aren’t quite good enough.

Utah catches Stanford, UA, and ASU all on back end of difficult stretches.

Have to disagree with Washington’s stretch. @Auburn, North Dakota, @Utah should be tougher than @UCLA, @UO, CU

Yeah that makes no sense at all Kelly is going to take some lumps again this year.

Was looking at the Trojan’s schedule for 3 game stretches. Gotta say, their schedule looks easy compared to Utah’s this year.  Not gonna bitch after their scheduled bye week from last year.  But assuming Texas is overhyped, here’s hoping Cal raises some eyebrows on expectation. Guess the old axiom is relevant, wanna be the best, gotta beat the best.  Go Utes.

Their schedule is so easy. It’s why I think Helton is fires if they don’t win the PAC-12 or even make the playoffs.

I think it is hard to select any stretch that includes an FCS opponent.

Which team does UW score more points against North Dakota, UCLA, or Colorado?

Which of those three teams does UW play their 2nd and 3rd string most of the 2nd half while trying to just run the clock out without embarrassing their overmatched opponent?

UCLA and Colorado would both beat North Dakota pretty easily.

I like it but I swap the Washington and Stanford win and loss.  I also think we lose to UCS but win the south with USC dropping a couple early with the new QB.
