  And I think that is a good thing. One more thing to help motivate these guys. They played a great game on Friday, I don’t want them to get overconfident.
  
  Rankings are subjective at best. Do I think the Utes are better than some of the teams in the top-25? Yes, I do. However, I am not worried about it at this point. I just want us to take this one game at a time and everything will take care of itself.

    Ditto. CFP much to the chagrin of Cincinnati and BSPN are the only thing that matter. My opinion is they should abolish the coaches and AP. Sure news outlets can do their opinion and will but I don’t care until the committee decides. Whitt cares I think he gets a bonus still.

      This is absolutely the right thing to do. NO rankings at all, including pre-season, until the CFP puts out poll #1

  I’m OK with that. They may emerge in the CFP rankings this week and, if not, will definitely be ranked next week after a blowout win vs Arizona – setting up a match-up of two ranked P12 teams with CFP implications.

  i disagree. i worry about the team POTENTIALLY getting to full of themselves if they are ranked in the top 10. outside of that its a non factor and its better to be ranked for respect/visibility

  Yes, this. I think there is a risk of a trap game this week. Arizona is not a good football team, but the Utes have not played well on the road, except at Stanford who was banged-out at several key positions. With the big tilt against Oregon coming up next there is a risk of looking past Arizona. Being slighted a bit by the AP voters might help to motivate what otherwise might be a seen as a week to coast in meetings and practice.

      Good point, I plead recency bias due to the Oregon State second half meltdown.
