It’s a David Bowie kinda day around here. Although, that could rightly be said about every day.
Still can’t believe he’s gone… 🙁
Hit shuffle on Spotify and “Same in the End” by Sublime came on, so that’s what we’re going with here (speaking of artists who went too soon).
Steven Wilson
A group of Wilson collaborators called The Mute Gods have a new album coming out. It releases tomorrow iirc, and got a good review from one of my go-to metal blogs.
A little too mellow for my tastes, but you might dig it.
I will have to check out the Mute Gods.
I’ve had the song from the Nutella commercial stuck in my head for the last three days. But I think I’m ok with it.
New cynical tunes from Father John Misty, called Pure Comedy
I am in Canada right now after all.
I prefer this for my Canadian music fix.
I didn’t see that coming.
I started out with “Vital Signs” and “Spirit of Radio” by Rush. Now I’m chilling to Black Uhuru’s Millennium Collection. Damn they were good when they had the classic lineup of Mychal, Puma and Duckie.
I know this is not your typical music choice, but it helps me get through the workday.
Another one that shreds….
Oh geez. If we go into video game soundtracks, I could be here all day. My VGM playlist currently stands at over just 10K songs, mostly from JRPGs. My all-time favorite:

Side note: If you enjoy the music from Final Fantasy, the Distant Worlds live symphony performance will be in SLC on June 3. I caught it up in Seattle a few years ago, was absolutely incredible.
I’m a day late, but was listening to Ryan Adams new album Prisoner all day yesterday. I really enjoyed the entire album, was partial to the opening track, Do you still love me?, and one a few tracks in called Doomsday.
Five days old but have to comment again. Listening to Cloudkicker’s tune “A Weather Front Was Stalled” and absolutely dig the massive guitar sounds.
If you like instrumental proggy metal, check out Scale the Summit. I saw them open for Cynic a few years back (before Cynic imploded), and they blew the doors off the place.
I listened to Shaping the Clouds. As a former audio engineer I gravitate toward very well engineered and produced audio, which that isn’t. It’s way too thin and unrefined for my tastes. I prefer heavier, tighter. Now I’m listening to their album V and it is much more along the lines from an engineering standpoint, and playing standpoint. Much tighter and better sounding.
“Big Eyes” by Cheap Trick
I’ve asked that the guns be taken out of the house until this song is no longer in my head.
