Yeah, our depth chart is more of a ‘top 2 players when healthy that don’t have a season-ending injury’ list. Doesn’t say who is healthy or actually going to play.

  • Yeah, kind of felt @OSU was the biggest game (or most important) of the year – on the road against a good PAC team. Since we lost that one, now Cal becomes the biggest game to get a win and back on track (and hopefully an improved offense).

  • I think we truly have Glover (all 5’8″ of him), a banged up Jackson, and … ? We’ve got to get Randle some reps or teach these freshman how to pick up blocks, right?

I’d have to think injury. I hope they totally game plan around his skill set. If I were Nate, I’d go all out with no pressure because it’d be unlikely they’ll pull you unless you are on your 4th turnover (knock on wood, please no). Didn’t Nate limp at the end of Oregon St. (maybe an ankle sprain)? I hope it was very minor. But one play away from a…[Read more]

True, but if you don’t have the talent or experience, sometimes it’s just not possible to score 1 more point than you hold them to.

And the last question … that is the great mystery of fans, forums, and diversity of thought. It’s our soap opera.

  • I feel like we have to beat who we ‘should’: Cal, ASU, UA, CU. That takes us to 8 wins. That is ‘you did your job with what you have and held it together’ land. Solid. Win the 50/50 against USC (our defense limits their offense, we actually score some points on their horrible defense, maybe getting a few defensive points to help), that’s a ‘ok,…[Read more]

The way we list our 2-deep doesn’t help, but:
    WR-X: Parks, Simmons
WR-Z: Vele (just returned), McClain (injured)
    WR-R: Pittman (injured), Matthews
    LT: Fano (injured), Togiai
    LG: Bills, Harrison
OC: Maea (injured, could return soon), Faaiu (but isn’t Kump generally taking C duties? haven’t paid close enough attention)
    RG: Mokofisi, Kump
    RT: Laumea,…[Read more]

The rest of the offense was still the same? He struggled a little more after their top receiver went out hurt. At least that’s what I saw. Also, USC defense really sucks?

  • DataUte replied to the topic Struggles in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago

Putting in QB2 (not even QB3, QB4) with the rest of the regular offense sure is different than playing a 2nd string Center (and shuffling the line), RB1, RB2, RB4 hurt or out for season, TE1 (Yassmin) should be doing better, but TE2 is undersized, TE3 is converted defense. McCain, Pittman hurt, so leaves us thinner at WR (Vele, Parks, Matthews).…[Read more]

This. But isn’t it ok for us fans to keep expectations as if all the 1st teamers (or maybe a few 2nd teamers) were still playing? kidding

I think we are probably on plan F with all the permutations we’ve had to deal with.

  • Coaches/Teams can’t control NIL money or direct it (well, wink, wink – with potential rules actually being discussed on this). That would have been between Cam and the deals. I truly think Cam thought he could come back faster (like his 1st injury) and he is busting his you know what to try to get there. But healing doesn’t speed up just by being…[Read more]

Let’s see who we did go to the portal for and how they are doing:
    – King (TE): caught a TD. Whit says he needs to gain weight to have more impact
    – Pittman (WR) been hurt last 3 games, so inconclusive so far but no one to throw to him anyway (also slotted as PR)
    – Allen (S) 1 tackle in limited play
    – Simmons (WR) I only remember a dropped ball
    -…[Read more]

  • 1) that was when everyone thought it was just an ACL tear (and maybe not even a complete tear). The other ‘expert(s)’ here immediately said 12-18 when it was found out to be ACL, MCL, meniscus, …

    2) hard to keep track of new posts within middle of one of 17 threads on the topic where everyone is putting out their incomplete guesses

  • Good point. ‘Hope is not a strategy’

  • Very fair

  • I read ‘we were expecting we’d be set’ to mean both that they hoped to have Cam back, but if not, we were set with 3 options to fill in until he was ready to come back (expectation probably shorter than reality). That second piece I think is critical to the argument.

  • DataUte replied to the topic Coliseum tips in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago

Does seem like Miami could be like LA – lots to do, so a little more fair-weather. Especially after that GT debacle – Cristobal has to be on borrowed time, but he’s still owed more than $60M, right? Could see fans abandoning the program pretty quickly.

  • No, I think he’s saying that both your statements are possibly true – Whit felt comfortable with the guys they recruited – 2 4* plus Barnes as being able to learn, grow, and become at worst a serviceable fill in until Cam could come back (maybe the timeline was off, but still the same). We’ve learned Barnes only has some skills. We’ve learned Nate…[Read more]

  • That’s how I felt too. But then this: Randall, I’m told, also wasn’t alone in pushing for the $50 million valuation. At least three others in the Pac-12 board room were also enthusiastic about it.

Everyone thought it was the ASU president and ASU professor. But sounds like there were several presidents all trying to get at a number. Int…[Read more]

  • At least 1 year continuity of OC into Big 12 would be really helpful, esp. if we are going with Rose or NJ next year. Changing OCs will set back the offense just as much as not having someone with the skills/talent. And we know if Whit goes, Ludwig will also retire. So too much disruption. Would rather have them on board for another year or two,…[Read more]
