Has anybody heard anything on Mikey Matthews? Here we are, a month after he entered the portal and after classes have already started nationwide, and I’ve heard zero on his situation. Is it possible that he’s keeping a low profile and still attending classes at the U?

I forgot that you were a Bills fan. Kincaid is going to have a hell of a career.

Back in the day, when there was no playoff system at all, there were also a lot less bowls. You also rarely saw no-name schools or teams with just .500 record going to bowls. At the same time, because all championships were decided via the AP and Coaches Poll, you could see a team ranked #5 at the start of bowl season win it all via a fortuitous…[Read more]

Was that in the same Rose Bowl? I remember Micah Bernard playing defense in 2022 but Phillips was there as well.

I think if that happens you’ll see a lot of schools drop football and maybe all sports if the contractual relationship is enforced extensively. Once you sign a contract, you become an employee and I’m not certain that most schools are ready to go that route.

Michigan went for the kill shot on a 4th down play, didn’t make it, and gave Washington good field position which they used to score.

I think in the NFL there’s room for anyone that’s dynamic and make plays. Doug Flute was only 5’8′ and he had a long and eventful NFL career. Even Murray is set for life. He looked really decent after he came back from his injury. We’ll see what happens but I definitely feel someone will pick him up.

What will you do? Use the totality of logic and facts when formulating an argument. That’s my recommendation.

As I said, this team can play with anyone at the Huntsman. My concern is away victories. Other California, every away game is going to be a slog. Combine with a certain 2-3 losses at home, and I think that you’re looking at a .500 conference record. Will that be enough to make it to the dance? I don’t know.

You can do whatever you want but you won’t win the argument. Focusing on one 15 game stretch on some guy’s career and using that as the absolute marker to determine that he’s better than another player that played four full seasons with the same university is also intellectually dishonest. It’s the literal version of apples and oranges. Hell, I…[Read more]

A harder schedule? Also, even though, so far, Carlson’s stats are better in both of their senior seasons, you can’t discount Battin’s superior stats from their freshmen through junior seasons. In my view, Battin was the better scorer while Carlson is the better rebounder. Battin averaged 31 percent from 3PT range in his four year career while…[Read more]

Chingis, where do you get that he’s better than Battin by quite a bit? Is that just your gut telling you that? If you dissect their stats, they’re essentially the same player with Battin actually being the better scorer.

Well, it was disappointing to me. I went into the game thinking that they would get blown out and that’s exactly what happened. Their two second halves during this road trip were by far the worst basketball they’ve played this season. Kind of seems to me that, now that there’s significant game tape on the Utes this season, they’ve been found…[Read more]

Smith is in the third year of a six year contract. I have to imagine that if by the end of next season there’s no discernible sense of progress, Utah will can him. At that point, Utah would only have to swallow $3.7M of his buyout, making it more palatable.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Ja'Quinden Jackson in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
Man, that’s a tough ask for a guy that really hasn’t played the QB position at a competitive level in college. Plus it’s not really his choice but the coaching staff’s.

I agree with your Teat comment. He’s looked pretty decent in his garbage time appearances so far this season. He’s certainly more dynamic than Erickson, that’s a certainly. I’m not sure that Exacte would make much of a difference. He’s another guy that would get rotation minutes but he certainly wasn’t anything close to a difference maker last…[Read more]

Very little dynamism to this team. For example, I have my doubts as to whether Worster would start for any PAC 12 outfit. I kind of get the feeling that the word is out on how to play the Utes. Essentially, wait for them to hit a 3 point dry spell and pull away. Again, I’m thinking that, unless something miraculous happens, we’re looking at…[Read more]

I’m not certain that they have the athleticism or gas to be a top tier conference team. It seems like they have to play at their very best and the opponent has to falter a bit for them to get the win.
As I look at the schedule, I have to ask where the away wins are going to come from. Cal is the only real gimme. Wazzu and Oregon State are…[Read more]
