Seems like we need to hire one soon or we’ll have problems recruiting.

Another WR recruit that wasn’t good enough to play WR for a team with terrible WR talent. Geezuz man, we need to hire someone that can recruit guys that can actually make an impact at WR.

Any chance Vele bulks up and takes over DKs role?
chinngiskhaan replied to the topic Red goggles off, what is your season record prediction for 2023? in the forum Football 3 weeks, 5 days ago
No reason to think Johnson can throw a football. He might be able to, but there is no proof that he can, not in a college football game.
Without Kincaid, kuithe is going to be double teamed every game until another threat proves themselves. Given Cam’s HEAVY reliance on kuithe prior to his injury, I don’t think that will happen.
Our rec…[Read more]

the team collectively shot 90% from the free throw line. NINETY PERCENT!!!
and they didn’t shoot a tiny amount of free throws either. They made 18/20. That is about as good as you will EVER see from a college team.
On a night when the team didn’t shoot particularly well from the field (not terrible either, just meh) they were able to shoot…[Read more]

chinngiskhaan started the topic Damar Hamlin and trauma, Sorry in advance for the brain dump in the forum Football 1 month ago
All this talk about football players experiencing trauma because of what happened to Mr. Hamlin has me thinking about the players that were on the Utes team when Aaron Lowe was murdered. It’s obviously a bit different because one thing was football related, and the other was not, but one event was also significantly more violent and ultimately…[Read more]

LOL man… You need to find a new hobby. This one clearly isn’t working for you.
The Utes aren’t one of the big boys. If you are still struggling to process the loss several days later, your expectations were waaaaaaay out of line. We had no business beating Pedo State with literally every one of our legitimate offensive contributors injured.…[Read more]

No kidding. All the whining is ridiculous. We were a replacement for RJ Hubert away from winning the Rose Bowl.

Curry was our best running back before he got hurt. I’d love for him to come back
chinngiskhaan started the topic Not sure if losing Bumphis was a bad thing or not in the forum Football 1 month ago
Mostly the timing just kind of stinks. The WR group didn’t make any noticeable improvement under him. The recruiting wasn’t great, but not horrible either. Hard to know how much of that is a result of his coaching, or just the scheme/reputation of Utah football.
The only way our WRs make any meaningful push forward is if we make a flashy hire.…[Read more]

I’m not sure it’s fair to say our offensive line got dominated all game. Our running backs both had plenty of running room. The blitz pickup wasn’t great, but the blitzes usually came on downs when we were obviously going to throw.

Yes… Hubert needs to move on.
Seriously, he NEEDS to move on.

Have either of you noticed an uptick in attendance? I’d love to attend but I live on the other side of the country.

I know he is a difference maker. His leadership is great. Not denying he’s a great player, but his passing isn’t what made him stand out. If that were the case, he never would have lost the competition to Brewer.
chinngiskhaan replied to the topic Let's not pretend that this team was awesome before the RB game in the forum Football 1 month ago
Now we are just arguing semantics here. It all depends on what you consider to be great. Yes, we were ranked #8, but we were not the 8th best team in the country. I would say we were probably more like 14th or 15th best, which is still very good… But in my opinion, a great team is a team that is not perfect, but never craps the bed. We crapped…[Read more]

I don’t see anyone claiming they’ve been ripped off (or anything of the sort). Cam Rising is a good QB. He’s not a great passer, he’s a pretty good passer, We’ve played against at least a couple guys that are better than him in that regard this year.
If Cam was good enough to be our starting QB based on his passing alone, he would have beat out…[Read more]
chinngiskhaan replied to the topic The Utes have simply got to have more outside threats. in the forum Football 1 month ago
I think Utah’s most viable option is to find TEs that can be outside threats. Kincaid was/is an outside threat.

I think it’s fair to expect us to be able to convince at least one WR with the ability to gain separation to commit to us, and we may have done that with the most recent class. We had that one guy in Covey. I don’t think it’s realistic to expect more than 1 productive WR on this team.
Hopefully Bumphis can do a better job of recruiting guys that…[Read more]
