2008 National Champ replied to the topic Low turn out for USC game?? in the forum Football 1 year, 9 months ago
I’ve told the story of how I was able to get premium seats the night before the 2017 game. It’s not uncommon for their to be bad turnouts in Los Angeles for either UCLA or USC. I’m not used to them having the tarps up but obviously they were prepared for it with the USC Logos.

Utah was getting killed by the run game in the first quarter and then he stopped calling those plays. If he’s smart, he starts working Lloyd on the first drive of the 2nd half and builds his play sheet off that again. Williams can’t beat the Ute D by himself as he showed.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Barnes 4th down in the forum Football 1 year, 9 months ago
I didn’t see that view. The view I saw was the Ute OLine getting blown up and Barnes having nowhere to go.
Bigger issue is why do you put RB1 in the slot, fake a jet sweep to RB1, and have your walk-on QB run the ball? If I need a yard, there’s one guy on that team I want to have the ball and he was a decoy. Just sayin’

They gave the explanation on the broadcast. The RB never had complete control. If a receiver catches the ball on the sidelines, he has to maintain control through contact with the ground.
On the play with SC’s RB, he tried to tuck it in but did not maintain control. I wanted it to be a fumble as much as anyone but it was the correct call.

The Vaki/Jackson wildcat on the last drive of the half is working. 2nd and 1 just outside the red zone and you get a false start penalty. Instead of sticking with it, he puts Barnes back in and has him run it twice.
Sometimes you don’t need to build a better mousetrap. or Keep It Simple Stupid!

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Rose in the forum Football 1 year, 9 months ago
not eligible for a medical until he’s exhausted his eligibility and to get it, he can’t play this year. Unless you think Rose is your starter in 2027, you either get him in the mix or move on from him for this year. If you aren’t going to play him, let him help out with scout team but no game reps.

hat tip to dystopian membrane: if you haven’t already, download uBlock Origin (pop up blocker). then

No one should be ruled out of the QB pecking order this year. At least until someone proves they can handle all aspects of the job.
I’m not putting any credibility on Whitt’s pronouncements for the rest of this year. Fool me once, shame on me. Try to fool me for the 17th time?

Kelly: transfer from Fresno, 3 star, 81 rating
Williams: transfer from Vegas, 3 star, 84 rating
Victor: transfer from Hawaii, 3 star, 85 ratingYou don’t need 4 and 5 stars to have a passing game. You just have to be willing to throw them the ball and run route trees designed to get people open instead of in blocking position.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Wazzu vs Oregon in the forum Football 1 year, 9 months ago
When you’ve got 7, maybe 8 teams capable of being ranked this year and they all play each other it’s not really chaos. Someone has to lose those games.
That’s why I said before Oregon State that a Utah loss wouldn’t eliminate them from anything. The way things are shaping up, I don’t think a team will be eliminated from CCG contention until…[Read more]

He probably had at least 3 weeks of limited activity, but we saw Travis Hunter come back from the same type of injury in under a month.
I think it’s more a case of Whitt being Whitt. Tell everyone that an unhealthy QB will be back any second while acting like a healthy one won’t play at all.

Yep. Giving Oregon a second loss before next week would be very helpful, especially after Utah wins tonight

It was until the refs got involved on that last drive. Took away a scoop and score for a phantom defensive holding, then called two more defensive penalties before the TD.

Ritchie played the first few games like he’d taken two years off. Played much better last week but that game was also pretty much over by the time he came in. I wouldn’t expect him to shiite the bed but playing at Bishop’s level right now is probably a little too much to ask.
