I think the first rule should be if go to the portal you can’t return (price shopping). Secondly if you leave for more money you need to pay your previous team 10% for expenses. Right now it’s open free agency with no penalties or consequences. Maybe I’m wrong but it seemed like the old transfer rule was you had to sit out a year pre NIL and that…[Read more]

Fair enough. I agree it’s not appropriate however stating off field issues lead to speculation that may or may not be true. That’s been a Whitt problem for years with injuries.

Proud Ute I’ve heard so many comments about off the field issues not pertaining to the locker room. Interested to know what those issues were. Thanks in advance.

Rising got beat out by Brewer and instead of transferring and causing locker room drama it lit a fire under him. Give me a leader that wants to prove to himself his coaches and teammates that he can be the man and earn respect. Sometimes a piece of humble pie can make you a better leader and person.

Sorry if my comments offended someone. I was just joking and my point was he is using it as leverage to get more money.

Maybe he’ll meet a nice LDS girl and get a job with an MLM company at the Y. I wonder if they have to pay tithing with the NIL money. Call his bluff. He’s using it as leverage.

I doubt we had any extra money for a punter. He has a chance to make some$$ and play in the SEC and a possible playoff run. Can’t blame him.

If there was no consequence why wouldn’t every talented player test the market to see if they can make more. Can you imagine open free agency in the NFL. Time for a super league college football conference with contracts and salary caps.

Every mother’s dream. Pay my son more he wants to stay. What’s next pay the moms so their sons will stay.

It’s a hard line to cross. On one hand you are trying to help the players become successful and prepare them for life after football. Making big NIL money can be life changing for the future. On the other hand you want them to be loyal to the program and ask them to take less money because you can’t match other offers.
It puts both coaches and…[Read more]

I don’t get it either Steel. It looked like we had 4 or 5 plays. It was Whitt that made the statement at his press conference about simplifying things because of the portal turnover. 2-3 years to learn the offense. How many times did we hear “Rose doesn’t have a grasp on the offense yet”

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Honest question, who is Dampier going to throw to? in the forum Football 7 months, 1 week ago
Williams looks really good. With all the contact (holding) allowed in the Big12 the bigger stronger receivers can get separation easier.

Thanks Miami. Could be worse. We may have to change the “family” chant at the start of the 4th quarter to “NIL”.

I was a student athlete. We shared the weight room with the student body and lived in the dorms with a meal ticket. To say the university pocketed the money is wrong. I have a grandson playing high school football and would be thrilled if he got a scholarship and opportunity to play college football.
I’m not sure what my argument was? You have a…[Read more]

My sentiments exactly proud Ute. Eagle have you seen the football and basketball facilities? University pocketing the money? The excess money has gone back to improving the facilities for the players for many years. I’m fine with paying the players but most athletic departments are losing money.

All true Utah. The one exception is most colleges are public institutions. They are there to provide our kids with an education and life changing experience. College sports provide scholarships and activities for students. Alumni and fans buy tickets and gear to support the sports programs and the university. How many professors make 1-8 million a…[Read more]
