I am sad to see him go, but could this be a mutual decision that would help him get more playing time and free up a spot for the team. I don’t know anything, but this would not surprise me.

BYU matched the highest offer, and since he was already living down the road in Mt. Pleasant, he chose BYU.

Wishing back things on another is always wrong IMO. I give you credit for having the guts to post here. But, you are dead wrong on so many things you posted.

Screw it. I am close to just giving up on college sports. It is so messed up. I hate what has happened with the NIL and portal. I need to separate myself from this mess. I was a Ute fan during the 1-10 seasons of the 1970s and enjoyed it. But, this crap is out of hand.
I have never been a casual Ute fan, but this may be what I will be…[Read more]

ProudUte started the topic Help me feel good about 2025 football in the forum Football 3 days, 15 hours ago
I want to see Utah football have a successful season. I admit that I still have a bad taste in my mouth after the 2024 season. That team was hard to watch. Sure, if Rising remained healthy, the story would have been different. However, we need to be better than that. Players will get injured.
As I see it, the offense should be better, mostly…[Read more]

Yes, BYU got a lot of bounces during he season, which helped them have an 11-2 season. However, I noticed that they enjoyed playing together. They were having fun, and showed confidence. This is much like the Utes from 2017 to 2022.
BYU did not lose many players from last season, and they return their starting QB. If their QB stays healthy, I…[Read more]

On the one hand, this brings a smile to my face, as they are our rivals in everything, and they are getting a bit of their own medicine, given that their basketball team is paid more than any other team.
However, the portal and NIL have srewed college football, possibly forever. Imagine an NFL player having the right to leave every year and…[Read more]

#1 LSU and #3 Florida were knocked out. I think the Red Rocks have a decent chance on Saturday.

A year ago I was fine with Harlan. Not so much now. I do like the hire of Alex Jensen, but I am not sure he had a lot to do with getting him to come home.
If the Red Rocks pull off a national championship on Saturday, the Utes will have two this season. Not many ADs can say that. That being said, for me, it’s all about football.

The Red Rocks will be in the final on Saturday. #1 LSU and #3 Florida were knocked out. Utah should have a decent chance to win it all on Saturday.

It will be his first game with new teammates, new coaches, and a new scheme. I suspect he will not be at his best when the Bruins play Utah. But, he is a talented QB.

9 spots to fil this late in the game is an issue. However, in the new world of portal players it is not as big of an issue. Yet, I suspect the best of the portal players have already made their decisions.
I suspect Alex will need a few years to get this program on solid footing. BYU’s coach did amazing h=in his first year, but it sounds like…[Read more]

Krindor, I really only disagree at LB, but not much. I would call it equal. Also, Utha lost a lot of studs on the Dline. I would probably call that overall equal. I hate to say this, but I think his may Utah’s weakest defense in a decade or more. However, surprises always seem to pop up, like Bishop, Lloyd, Anae, Chase Hansen, etc. I hope a…[Read more]

ProudUte replied to the topic Filed under NIL ruining college sports… in the forum Football 1 week, 4 days ago
The portal and NIL have made college sports a mess. Hard to blame a kid for going after the money, but when you are already well compensated, you should keep your agreement. I would be reluctant to bring this kid into my program if I were a coach.

I have posted before that the Jazz must do something next season or they will lose their fanbase. They have been tanking for three years now. This off-season, they must make some significant changes or the fans will no longer show up. This has gone on way too long. They have already lost me. I have not watched a minute of Jazz basketball in…[Read more]

I do believe that there are some people who will donate forever. Ryan Smith’s wealth is estimated at 1.4 billion and growing. If he invested 200 million an account that made him 10%, he could donate 20 million per year without feeling it. He is totally invested in BYU basketball, making BYU one of the top 5 highest paid teams in the…[Read more]

I agree that the concept of NIL was good. But, it is now out of control. I do think that Ute Dub is right that we will likely not be able to reign in this mess. This is why college sports is becoming less appealing to me.
