ParticipantJust posted this on another thread but even Salesi is calling out what a lot of us have been saying on here. Who knows really how close he even was.

ParticipantI agree. At this point I don’t listen to any of those experts. There is just no way anyone knows the personal conversations that are happening. Even with Moa, who knows what happened. This account posted this and Moa called them out. May as well just wait to see who commits and go from there. Like Whitt says, worry about the guys on our team.

ParticipantLots of optimism even 24 hours before the announcement.
SEC football is a big draw but they felt like they had done enough to hang on. Utah’s NIL was where it needed to be the entire time so I don’t think that was the deciding factor and I don’t think he was being dishonest with anyone, just ended up doing what he felt was best for him.
I think having his brother leave the state also worked against us and kinda opened the door for him to go too.

ParticipantThe OnlyU guy many people reference here gets his information from the same place the recruiting “experts” do, random social media outlets. They see the percentages released from ON3 or similar sites, buy into social media hype and release their predictions.
Not trying to hate on anyone, but no one really has an “inside scoop,” unless the prospect or their family directly told the person.

ParticipantI think you may need on to something, but I also think recruiting has become unbelievably deficient to predict (NIL being the primary factor).

ParticipantI understand from a good source that Utah was going to be his choice until the late push by Tennessee in the last 48 hours. They were on the phone with him for hours the night before he announced his decision. They told him he could play both ways, and because he would be in the SEC he would get tons of attention.
I don’t think it was because their NIL offer was bigger than ours. The head coach and offensive coordinator worked him hard the last few days. Utah coaches apparently tried to call him the night before his announcement, but he did not answer.
I don’t think Utah is done recruiting him. He has not signed anything yet. Can we flip him? Who knows, but this is one guy we should do everything possible to flip.

ParticipantUtah had a big turnover since Rose bowl 1 and 2. Lots of new faces. Rising won the team over with his competitive spirit and QB play. For two years he did basically nothing to help the team win games and left them in a bind financially and depth wise at QB. Anytime you under achieve the QB is going to take blame. I don’t think all the chatter in the locker was about Rising. Plenty of blame to go round starting with the coach!!

ParticipantYes. He was in the other Moa thread a day or two ago.

Sanders
ParticipantI think he went silent after the offensive staff was let go.
