B10 and SEC are used to each getting 2 teams into the 4-team playoff most years. Expand by 3x and we are lucky they don’t each expect placing 6 teams into the 12 team playoff.
I guess that is the next step.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Depth Chart 👀: Gilman @ SS, Van & Logan co-starters, Dallen Bentley TE in the forum Football 11 months ago
Randle seemed destined to move to another position- 6′ 180 does not scream running back.
He has a lot of speed and quickness so I assume secondary or WR would be more natural positions for him. Obviously the coaches have a tremendous record moving players to positions where they can succeed.
Only do you see him sticking at corner?

He has a smooth voice- there is a future in broadcasting if he wants that some day.
Love the talk about why he does not like the Zoobs much. That was fun.
His confidence is awesome. I’m excited for the season.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Why did Whitt move away from the spread offense? in the forum Football 11 months ago
Whitt moved away from the spread when it was not working and there was talk of him being fired. These days are often forgotten now. He had two 5-7 seasons with poor offensive output and revolving OCs where they were looking for answers. The spread just was not working for the players in the program.
Defenses had no idea what to do with spread…[Read more]

The dude has a great mind. Hope to see him back @ Utah in a coaching position.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Biggest fears going in to the new conference. in the forum Football 11 months ago
1- That our conference opponents will be better than we think they will be while being nationally underrated. Texas has produced a lot of tremendous football players. Football seems to be something of a religion with huge high school stadiums, devoted fans, and well coached players. We have brought in a lot of fantastic yet underrated TX prospects…[Read more]

Yes. It is red and it tastes good.
I am drinking the Kool-Aid and I don’t care what is in it.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Vaki getting some playing time in the forum Football 11 months, 1 week ago
It is tough to predict the future. Utah has put a lot of players in to the NFL on the defensive side of the ball an there were a lot of indications that his future was there.
Furthermore, safety has much better longevity than RB so it is not like Utah did him a disservice by playing him at safety.
Hope he makes a nice career for himself in Detroit.

I wonder what a dump-truck-load of cash is- who has a feel for how much he would have to turn down? 500k from Utah and 2m from Oregon? I have no idea.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Big 12 financial challenges will be daunting in the forum Football 11 months, 2 weeks ago
When looking to blame the chaos of college sports- the ridiculously poor financial management of athletic departments are a fine place to start.
It does not matter whether you are evaluating personal finances, a business, a country, a university, a non-profit, or whatever- if you spend more than you make there is going to be trouble.

Cali coasts on the laurels of having the most advantageous environment in the country. Management is terrible.

Honorable mention for the dudes using shovels to make lines in the snow during the Wazzu game. There were no straight lines anywhere. Great entertainment.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Will we have/need/want a RB1 or go with a committee? Who will lead? in the forum Football 11 months, 2 weeks ago
I’d like to see RB by committee in hopes that they will still be healthy for the playoffs. How many years have we seen a dominant back carry us through a fine season but end weakly due to injuries? That seems to have been a common thread for us.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Utes ranked 13th in first coaches poll in the forum Football 11 months, 2 weeks ago
It is a nice starting spot for us. Win and stay healthy = the formula for being ready to make a run in the playoffs. This could be Utah’s year and the coaches poll position will not hold Utah back.

Uteanooga replied to the topic How to watch Utah Ute sports after the move to the Big 12 in the forum Misc 11 months, 3 weeks ago
Yes it was easy if I wanted to pay for the streaming services my family wanted and then pay again for the streaming services that carried the P12n.
The simple fact of the matter was that outside the west, many of the popular streaming services, and every single cable carrier, did not give two shits about the P12n.

Awesome post!
There are so many great memories. Utah took advantage of the opportunity and went from being an outsider to an insider during the P12 days. It was an amazing transition. I am proud of the program not pulling a Colorado.
Being associated with the P12 universities was really fantastic and every game had the feel of being a huge…[Read more]

Our experiences with the P12 network seem to have varied significantly. I live in SEC country and trying to find the P12n was like looking under rocks. None of the major providers carried it. No sports bars or restaurants showed the games. The streaming options my family preferred did not offer the P12n.
I am not trying to say it was impossible…[Read more]

Utah is in a transition period and needs to win to keep the recruiting going. Utah will still be able to recruit elite talent but will continue to be at a disadvantage compared to the USC’s of the world. UCF is in our league and look at their developing class:

*Most avalanche prone in the lower 48. Alaska gets lot of snow, has a lot of steep mountains, and a lot of avalanches. Who knows what is happening in the Himalayas etc.
But yeah- LC is it. Ski paradise. Except for the traffic. Fine point on the timing though- if you get up early enough you can get up the mountain.
