Smith might be over his head, but Burgess is not. If we can keep Burgess he should be the Utes steadying influence. He did wonders with Carlson in his first year. No doubt we could use a big time lead back. But the pay for player concerns me. I mean you have John Emery, Jalen Berger who would look great in our offense. But that $ sets us up not to be in the running. Newell is an option that would bolster our committee, but probably not lead back. Just more of a pound the rock type.

If my memory serves me correctly, I remember a past post that indicated he wanted to go to the U, but the fit was better at the Y.

They both were not going to see significant playing time at all. Kennedy may have been given flash opportunities, but Smedley was never even an option.

If this is true, and Caliman has some insider info this may be the best WR corps we would have had ever going into game #1. However, I have not seen or heard any confirmation of this on social media. But I absolutely would be stoked if this happened!

Chris Capko from USC is another fantastic young energetic coach that Utah needs to build their BBall program. This guy has coached all over the the stars and helped USC recruit some of the hottest BBall talent in Southern California. He is going to be a top candidate for some program. It might as well be ours!

Ari Patu, Drew Pyne there several guys that fit. It’s a delicate balance of not bringing in someone that scares off the young guys but brings experience, maturity, and Gardner Minshew vibe to the room.

The other thing that we need to consider is we in essence are asking someone to come in for 2.5 string or 3 string. Sucks, he really never was given a chance. What we need is someone that is a veteran that can help bridge or give stability to our star who is more susceptible to injury and a young quarterback who by all accounts wasn’t ready last year. I’m not saying we need a 5 star here we need a bridge. That’s all!

OL is always a good get. But I think the bigger need is a Backup QB and potentially a DL piece! I did see Jacob Conover enter the portal. Completely agree! All the points you have made, appear to have been resolved by guys coming back from injury, transfer portal etc. I am really optimistic about the changes that have been made.
