Bushman listed as 3 in 60 in 60. But,

1280 has Dereck Stevenson (BYU homer) on and he said that Bushman belongs in the teens and not number 3.

Hans says he would put him at 15-20.  Hans does not vote in the 60 in 60.  He says that maybe he will particpate in the voting next season.

So, you can’t blame this on 1280.  It appears that their hosts do not agree with Bushman being a top 5 in-state player.  Maybe Greg Wrubell had mutliple votes and voted him number 1 five times.  πŸ™‚

I think Utah having 7 of the top 10 players is fair.  But, Bushman at number 3 and higher than Huntely and Moss is nonsense.  Oh well, we just need to prove it on the field.

Go Utes!!!

The Utah media will NEVER realize the true place of BYU in the current landscape of college football, either within state or nationally.

    • 2

I wonder if Weber St has passed them?

BYU is lucky they don’t play Weber this season.

They would have killed them last year. BYU struggled to score on Portland St.  Weber put up 63 on them.

So either BYU’s senior starting quarterback is one of the top two players in the state or he’s not in the top 60.

In other words, the local media is either stupider than I thought or they’ve committed a blaspheme against the cougar quarterback factory.

  • Duhwayne

1280s marketing department made the 60 in 60. It’s cute to think they weren’t going to kiss BYU fans’ butts. Based on everything they say there, it’s clear their listeners are Y fans.

Even cougarboard would trade #3 Bushman for #6 Covey in a heartbeat.

The problem for the BYU fanbase is that to fix a problem you have to realize you have a problem.  This constant drumbeat by the media, in the face of all facts, really sets them up for long term failure.

I am stunned thay Holmoe hasn’t been run out of town. Independence was a scam. They would have gotten into BCS if they had stayed in the MWC. TCU was P**SED.

  • noneyadb

They really need to change this to a 25 in 5 and wait to release until the first week of football. A list created 3+ months ago is useless. Last year Carrington would have been a top 5 player had they been able to include him.

How Hansen or Blackmon are ranked higher then Moss is absurd. Bushman bring rented higher is an insult.

They are also quick to point out that most of the games have been decided by a touchdown or less. What they forget is that the games are usually over by the end of the 3rd quarter and Whittingham just plays it safe knowing that it is almost impossible for BYU to comeback and win. I don’t like that he does this and wish that we would keep the gas on. A wins a win I guess.

My favorite is their arguing about the vegas bowl.

Reality is they never had possession of the ball with a chance to lead or tie the game after Utah went up 14-0

      • 2

So, like, the 2nd play of the game.

Haha, well actually 10:42 to go in the first Q.  After TDS’s fourth play from scrimmage and second turnover.

I have to give TDS credit that they didn’t give up when down 35-0 after the 1st Q, and kind of ticked at Utah that they mailed it in after that. For the TDS fans saying they could have won, once TDS got within 7 there were only 3 minutes left so the Utes literally handed it off to Joe Williams 5 straight times then went to victory formation for the last few plays.

          • CincyUte

Who was BYU’s leading rusher that game?

You’re both wrong.  BYU’s leading rusher that day was a freshman named Francis Bernard (7-58, 1 TD).

I just wanted to say Rainy Nova Scotia.

In the last 15 years, they have taken the lead and carried it to the final for a total of :38 seconds.

  • PlainsUte

Well aside from the time they were given about 3 chances to win it in the last play and failed.

  • UtMtBiker

Also had a chance to win it on the last play in 16′

Correction. That FG would have only tied the game.

2nd 6’8” commit, Ath Falcon Kaumatule will be a Ute

    https://247sports.com/Player/Falcon-Kaumatule-46045550/

We will have some height coming in for this class.  Not sure where he will play, but it’s nice to be getting a few of these Bishop Gorman players from Vegas, that could be a huge pipeline for us if we keep on it.

Edit: Looks like we will bring him in as an OT. He is only 245lbs so it’ll take a year or two in the program to get his weight where it needs to be.

What about us beating out Georgia, Florida, Nebraska, and Oregon for Darren Jones?

Or us beating out Az St, Oklahoma, and Oregon for Talavou

Or Oregon, USC, UCLA, and Wazzu for Bernard

Or Az St, Colorado, Or St, and Wazzu for Felix-Fualolo.

So not really sure what your referring to with “stacking up diamonds in the rough.”  Your narrative is pretty weak, FYI.
