Our defense has been excellent; however we have faced weaker offensive lines this last month. We will have our work cut out for us this weekend. We should still win that battle up front. It just won’t be as easy as it has been.
Petersen and his staff has had two weeks to analyze and prepare for Utah. They have looked for any weakness or tendency they can exploit. Our coaches need to mix it up and do some new things that UW has not seen.
Blackmon said in an interview that they study the film so close, that they look for the expressions on the opposition’s faces and their mannerisms to determine what the play will be. He said that you can typically tell by the running back’s face if he is going to run or not. I didn’t know that they looked at things that deep. You can bet that UW has looked at everything Utah does and will have a unique game-plan for us.
I hope Whitt can get the Petersen monkey off his back.
That’s an amazing record. We ended the longest (scoring double digit) streek against ASU and ended the shutout streek that Cal had. It’s time to end another streek.
Regarding UW record after bye week, I take a couple of things from this. Petersen is really good game planning and preparing his team with the extra week. They’ve beaten a variety of teams, but not us. Advantage UW. However, I think it would be difficult to come off of a bye week and play a team as physical as Utah, the most physical team out west. It’s not just the rust factor, it’s re-acclimating to playing and playing in a brutally physical game coming off a break. I don’t think it’s coincidence the next closest game in that streak of wins was Stanford, next most physical team in the conference. Advantage Utah.
