No Pac-12 expansion at this time

I imagine this is exactly what we all knew the answer was going to be. I would have been shocked if it were anything other than “we’re not expanding at this time”. There is zero reason to expand now, my bet is that if the Pac-12 does choose to expand it will be in 2023.

It comes down to a question of value.  I personally don’t see much media value in what is available.  TCU does not bring the DFW media market.  That media market belongs to Texas and aTm.  KU is the only instiution that meets the academic profile but they are clearly located in the Big 10 footprint and football is FCS level.

Honestly the “in state” team brings more media value nationally than any of the leftover 8.  Expansion for the sake of expansion is the ultimate reactionary move and would harm more than it would help right now.

The big 12 is crumbling right now, why should the pac 12 fix it? They made a decent statement with the the multi-conference agreement not including the big 12.

Big 12 was never on solid ground. They combined the Big 8 and The SWC. Both conferences didn’t have the desirable destinations for neutral fans to explore. Salt Lake City has now become a more desirable place to visit over Austin and programs are panicking.
