    Makes sense that he would leave. Texas already has a stud QB and Manning is coming in next year. This guy would never see the playing field.
    
    As for me – I am hoping that Johnson is our future QB. I would, however, try to get any good WRs in the portal. We need some replacements there.

  No. Texas alum/fan here. Card is ok, but not that great. He played last year and was mediocre. He filled in for Ewers while he was hurt and is mediocre. He doesn’t go through his reads very well or fast and tries to run but isn’t really that fast. Hoping Nate is our man.

      He’s definitely servicable and you can tell the team loves playing for him. He probably is at the highest he can get. It doesn’t seem like he has a huge arm but would be the dreaded ‘game manager’. Nate has huge upside and speed.

      Idk if that guy’s ceiling is very high. He played fine against WSU and I think that is when everyone started hopping on the Nate Johnson train.

      Barnes is a walkon. Nate Johnson is a 4* recruit who will be a redshirt freshman. He ran track and ran a 10.56” 100m.
      
      He is the future. Barnes is Jon Hayes.

        Barnes is a ton better than Jon Hayes. Hayes could hardly throw a football. Barnes throws the ball quite well.

        I agree he is better, but it’s the idea of playing for the future instead of playing with the band aid fix. Maybe it costs a game or two, but the growth far outweighs that.
        
        At least that’s what Whitt has favored in the past.

      Barnes is a nice story, can use him in spots but it’s really hard to game manage your way to conference championships.
