Here’s why:
I posted during the Oregon game in the third quarter how it seemed like Taylor gave Whitt a big middle finger and said, “screw you and your ideas, I’m running MY offense”.
It was at halftime. Now, it wasn’t pretty in the Oregon game, but it was different. It was gooooood.
Then, we saw more of it vs UCLA (hence the bad first quarter. We were literally 2 quarters into a “new” offense).
Now, UCLA is bad. BUT, we did what we should have done to a bad team and that is beat them soundly.
I don’t think we’ve ever done that in the PAC-12.
I think Taylor has reached his boiling point and has decided that if he is going to get canned like everyone else, he is going to get canned doing it his way.
I don’t think our defense is as bad as everyone claims. I think our defense isn’t as great as years past and when the offense hangs them out to dry, they struggle.
What im saying is this:
I think our offense is better. It is fixing what ailed it. As this happens, our defense will stay on the sidelines and look better.
Instead of having Repp in on a first down because the drive is 10 plays long and our offense went three and out the two previous possessions and Anae is exhausted, we can save his for third and long.
I don’t think our offense will suddenly score 45 a game. BUT, I do think we can get our 3rd down conversion up to 40% and increase our RZ TD’s, which can get us up to 33 points a game, which if we score that, we win all our games.
We’d be 8-1 if we could score 33 pts a game.
