Any chance either of those two get more reps this week? Barton has…problems.

He also made plays that one out of bounds was aggressive for sure but I don’t want that to stop.

It seems he gets caught up in the wash too much and has a hard time going sideline to sideline.

That one was tough. He left his feet when the QB was in bounds and you never know when a guy is going to fight for extra yards. Certainly wasnt clear as he went for the tackle. Contact initiated fractions of a second after QB left field of play. I honestly thought that was one that should have been let go considering he dove while QB was still in play.

I’ll give the defense a free pass on the hit out of bounds.  (Don’t want to make it a habit of course).  It was some what a close call but still was definitely late.  But when your defense scores more points than they concede with little help from the rest of the team, they are entitled to a few mistakes.

I’ve always thought barton was overrated. He over pursues and goes for the big hit every play. He can’t read an offense and personally he is the weakest part in our defense. I would love to see Bernard/Thompson/Pirtle get in and help Chase Hansen out. NIU should never have run on us like they did.

We play a lot of 2 LB sets and then move a LB out of the box or to the line. We need to be careful with that because it leaves a soft middle. Since that has been noticed and attacked, that needs to be used much less and only showed late in the snap count. We could disguise more on our defense pre snap.

I thought Barton looked solid. He seemed to be around the ball a lot. In fact I thought he was looking better than Hansen until the 4th quarter.

Barton lead the team in tackles.
