Anybody see Stanford schedule next season? OOC games are Notre Dame, UCF, and Northwestern. I would much rather see something closer to that than playing an in state “rival” or some crappy division 2 school. I believe we need to schedule something where we recruit out of like Texas (Houston, SMU,A&M, Texas,Texas Tech, or UCF,USF , Florida St. etc. ). It’s my hope that the new A.D. can put together something like that.
Agreed. I’d love to see a home & home with Miami too.
No you wouldn’t. When Stanford has 4+ losses next year and we have 1, you won’t care one lick about Stanford’s schedule and you’ll be dreaming of the playoffs, not OOC scheduling.
Stanford is dumb and it will cost them, just like how scheduling up cost them a spot in the playoffs in 2015 when they scheduled up.
Schedule down.
We dont need 3 “A” non-conference games which is just brutal, but can do better than 2 Bs and a C.
We’d be dumb to.
What do you want? Playoffs or good OOC?
Both.
Start with a PAC12 championship.
Utah is right…there is no incentive to schedule up based on the current playoff structure. As long as this structure is in place, scheduling down is the wise choice for P5 programs.
I get a fair amount of what you are saying but I would like to play a better more meaningful ooc schedule. Play teams in places where we try and recruit heavily . Drop byu for Houston. Play John Adams or N D State instead of Idaho state. Our current ooc schedule does us no favors. To be the best you have to beat the best.
BS. To be the best you have to be undefeated in December.
Your best shot at being the best is scheduling down. Do what Alabama does. Be smart. USC and Ohio State are dumb. They schedule up and miss the playoffs.
I hope they smash the crap out of UCF.
